Indeed, but I just had bad experiences that day. It made me realize how much potential our team had if politics wasnt a reality in sports. In fact, I was pissing off the Argentinian fans in the stadium by chanting "Lavezzi cero, Di Maria cero, Aguero Cero, Higuain Cero etc" signifying that with all the paid money/star power that they had they couldnt do anything against Montazeri/Pouladi who cost about 1/10000th of what they do on the transfer market.Originally posted by The Realist View PostThe world paid so much respect for Mighty Iran!
Also, their fans were obnoxious. One Iranian girl who happened to be very cute was trying to find her seat and their whole section heckled her until a few of us helped her find her seat by escorting her. And I thought people from Middle East were "zan nadideh". These guys were something else.

Even though we lost, I can assure you that this game will still be on people's mind by next time we enter WC. I bet you that any commentator from any country will mention our great game with Argentina when we're in the next WC.Originally posted by Abtin View PostIran earned HUGE respect that day, and so well deserved. Such a compressed and disciplined team we saw!! If we won, which we definitely could and deserved to, the world would be talking about it every time we entered a WC game field.
But damn... what a day that was. I was eating chelo kebab with my family in front of the tv while watching that game.
I cannot feel anything but respect for team melli.
I hope the youth will take inspiration from this game to realize that even as a no-namer you can hold your ground against these world stars.
Dreaming for the day that TM makes us even more proud and reaches the knock out stages. We know they can.
