Wow, I was happy with 2-0 but making 6-0ers out of Bahrain in the process was EXTRA sweet!
I hope we get drawn into India's group again (Group A). That would be an automatic place in the quarterfinals as the 1st placed team and I'd say our chances of making the semis would be 90%, as long as we don't draw N. Korea again in the quarters.
In fact, since 2008 when we haven't faced N. Korea at some point in the competition (Group or knock-out) we have made the semis (two times).
Our real competition is N.Korea, Uzbekistan, S.Korea and Japan. So as long as we don't draw one of those teams in the quarters, I think we're still at 75%+.
Otherwise, it would be 50/50.Last edited by Bi-honar; 09-20-2015, 05:24 AM.

India has qualified for the asian cup, a grand total of 3 times. Again, THREE TIMES.
Iran has qualified 13 times. Has won it three times.
There should be no comparison between the two nations football team and football culture. When it comes to football, India hasn't even took it's baby steps.
Go troll somewhere else. Or come and talk when your team has even 1% chance of qualifying for the world cup.

Agree that Iran is a power house in Asia.. and I didn't mean any comparison of our National team with yours. And I am not a stupid to do that .. What i want to prove it here is don't writeoff these kids as i just saw someone quoting it will be easy walkover if they grouped with us in final stage. This team is a new bunch of kids whom we have high hopes and i am sure they will not disappoint us. The result against other two teams in the group is a clear indication of the same. Also please note that we have already qualified for the U17 worldcup as we are hosting the tournament . We just taken the first step and I hope in future we will meet quiet often in bigger matches and i am sure it will not be a cakewalk for u unlike the current scenario.

Nah, Qatar and UAE and countless other asian countries have said the same things about their youth team and how when they grow up they will defeat Iran... It didn't happen. in the recent Asian cup we defeated both UAE and Qatar, with their now all grown up "promising" youth players.
Both of those countries, UAE and Qatar spend more money on their football program than India, both of those countries buy and use foreign players and still they lose against us.
I had no problem with India, but reading your coach comments and seeing how disrespectful and delusional he is, well, let me just say, you guys will never get anywhere as long as you have that mentality.

AFC U-16 CHAMPIONSHIP
India will never "screw us" in any age group in football in this lifetime at least, not worth the argument you need to get much better to start using these expressions, my dear Indian member.
Of course, you also have several great youth teams (at Olympic level too, not U16) much better than india such as UAE or Iraq etc but most of them never translated into a true good team, so no need to get excited by meaningless wins here and there.

Also, hosting tournaments at this level makes very little difference because unlike the senior teams, you don't have 40,000 fans cheering the team on and creating some sort of home field advantage. Less than 200 people turned up for the Iran-India match in football crazy Tabriz to cheer Iran on.
It is of course nice to see India hosting both the AFC and WC tournaments and to qualify for the WC for the 1st time as hosts. But they definitely have their work cut-out for them just to reach the quarters in the AFC tournament. The only time they managed that was in 2002, when there were only 3 groups and two of the three 3rd placed teams reached the quarters.
It's going to be a much different story this time, and in fact has been a different story since 2002 with the 16 team, 4 group format. But since they will be seeded in Group A, I think they do have a chance of making the quarters, just not as the top team in the group.
