Shekari as talented and special as he is, needs to gain some more weight and some self confidence. Unfortunately our players are not stocky or even confident enough to win physical duels with tough players hence we lost to Zambia and Portugal only because of their superior physical attribute and not their skills so we are always losing our energy and stamina after the 60th minute. Our team is unfortunately set for only 60-70 minutes and Shekari is no exception from this fact. He or our players need to get into a better shape before they can become serious contenders in today's football.

I agree he needs to lift some weights, but he still uses his body fairly well. I don't know if some of you noticed but he likes to protect the ball often when trying to slow the pace of the game, and can hold off 1-2 players comfortably off the ball with physicality, both in AC and WC.

Although this was U20 level, even if it's the highest level at this age, but he probably won't be able to do the same with the pros/senior players. It's obvious he will develop more muscles within 1-2 next years, similar to both Saeid and Sardar for example who were similar to Shekari body wise at this age. Another issue is his stamina which seems weak right now, same as Sardar, he runs out of energy in the last 20-30 minutes often and needs to get subbed off a lot

the physical aspect is something that will be addressed wherever he goes in europe. Even if that is rostov, which probably isnt the best team for his overall development, I think we can all agree the physical aspect of his game will be addressed there.

Shekari confirms that he signed a 5 year deal with Rostov before the tournament. Pretty stupid on his part to sign a deal before the tournament since he could have went to a much better team and league.

            He's getting very poor advice.

im pretty sure they sell him up for good profit in a 2-3 years ..!
i think it was a hasty decision on his agent's part too..! goes to show shrewdity of Rostov's front office/Kurban to quickly pay up the measly $100k transfer fee and close the deal before WC..! (this move has Berdiev's finger prints all over it..!) that dude got a good eye for talent..!

                  yea
Rostov would be stupid to loose his services
but im sure its gonna take high$$s to retain his services and if they dont come close to matching likely offer$ from other league competitors this offseason, they will loose him to probably a higher profile, richer RPL team..!!
he will probably take Sardar with him too, lets hope Azmoun isnt stupid enough to agree to sign a long term extension though..!
woulda been better if Reza had signed a 3 year deal, but Shekari is still awful young, he will be all right in the long run.
if he can cope with the ultra nasty playing conditions and physicality of RPL, then he can make it anywhere else in Europe afterwards..!

                    Iranian fans are never happy

--> player stays in Iran = bad

--> player goes to the 6th best league from Zob ahan and yall still aren't happy.

Look, I know it's not the most attacking team, but going from IPL to RPL is still a huge improvement in physicality, fitness, and competition.

Whether anyone here likes it or not, there are good teams in Russia, and although somewhere like Netherlands can be a slightly better option, we can't be picky and we should be happy that our youth players are getting out of Iran!!! That's the most important part.

You guys act like our players are Brazilian and have all types of amazing teams in line to sign them.

                    Reality check boys.

Physical competition will make him a stronger player.

Exactly, if he was argentinian (out of U20 world cup too), brazilian or else, the like of Barcelona would be after him. But he is iranian, we have absolutely no reason to think that a decent french/spanish/german/dutch/italian/english side would seriously fight to hire him.

Some years ago, iran did a very nice U17 world cup beating Holland 1/0. kaveh Rezaei was very good during this tournament. Some years ago, K.Rezaei is still in Iran while Luc Castaignos from this U17 holland team was hired by Inter Milan, then Eintracht Frankfurt, Sporting Portugal

Reza Shekari turned 19 today. After his excellent showing at the WC, and transfer to Rostov, its fair to say this kid has a huge future ahead of him !

I agree no long term contracts.

We Iranians are not good in contracts, especially long term. So, it is best to sign one or two years each time.
