Watched Iran-Portugal U-20 yesterday; Shekari is promising, but Iran was just not good. It seems when Iran plays a "big name" team, the inferiority complex kicks in- they played without any confidence and there was no strategy, no organization to the team.

      it's only/just a matter of time

I agree, I think he will get an invite for the next TM camp (after the Uzbekistan game).

watched all of his games. This kid is a future TM star. Excellent dribbling and technique, an excellent finisher, and very confident. Also, physically he dealt with the challenge of zambia very well. Also a smart player who knows when to release the ball, dribble, etc unlike many on his team. He will be in europe next season at rostov or somewhere else so I think that part is settled. If he can get decent minutes anywhere in europe he may even make WC squad ( like how CQ brought ARJ last time). This is our future number 10. Damesh garm !

Actually that's a very good comparison. Same type of players, same strengths and composure on the ball.

At some point in the past he looked very selfish with the ball but it seems like he even fixed that nowadays. He is definitely one of the U20 players that will make it to senior TM and will have a long Euro career

              true
Not quiet AK8 quality but could get there if he stays grounded with professionalism & hard work.
Seemingly already has made the EU move which is a good foundation for his future stardom.
I knew he was gonna be the stand out player for us @ u20 WC & he certainly didn't disappoint.

in u20 Asian cup, he looked selfish and did not seem to work at all off the ball. This WC he brought others into the play, gave the defense respite with his ability to keep the ball, and worked very hard off the ball as well. He showed himself on the biggest stage possible. Shame he didnt get one or two more games.

I hope he could play with TM in june if we seal the qualification early + have him in the TM squad for next WC.

That's what happens when you don't get regular friendlies against those sorts of teams and you only play against them in major tournaments

That's the problem with the senior TM aswell. We don't have good record against top european countries at all: 98 : Germany, Yougoslavia, 04 : Germany, 06 : Portugal 14 : Bosnia, 15 : Sweden (the exception is Croatia in 06).

Our volleyball, futsal, beachsoccer use to play top teams so regularly, that's why they are top class now.

I haven't seen him play, but when you're comparing him to Shojaei and somewhat Karimi, does that mean that he knows how to dribble or that he actually has crazy dribbling skills like Shojaei (don't think anybody will be Karimi level)?

Very good dribbler but not like AK8 good. Probably not Good as Massoud either. However he is tall and seems to be a better scorer at this stage. His dribbling reminds me more of Ezzatolahi.

His dribbling is actually excellent and Saeid isn't even close, he's probably not exactly Masoud's level yet but he's almost there, it's that good. As an overall player he's already better than what Masoud was at his age tho.

You can watch most of his games, where he has so much control over the ball that any opposition player struggle to tackle him and keep up with him while he is far from a fast guy. He has excellent technical skills, even by world standard if you look at his plays literally every time he has the ball in the U20 WC games. He's really the definition of a flair player who is so difficult to read for other players.

I struggle to understand his choice of going to Russia where this style of play is almost nowhere to be found

I agree with most of the things you say. But I think you are under rating Saeid's dribbling ability. The guy can dribble, it's just that because of his position he is getting the ball out a lot sooner. Much better passer.

I think it was a mistake for him to sign with Rostov. Our offensive players need a better system than the ultra defensive Rostov to nurture their talents.

no he definitely is a good dribbler and doesnt lose the ball easily. Look at his first goal against zambia. But he is more of a scoring attacking mid whereas masoud wasnt that much of a scorer ever. He times his runs well and is good with both left and right at shooting, and importantly is calm in front of goal. tbh, im not 100% sure the move to rostov is done. The only confirmation has been from his instagram and iranian sources. No official confirmation from rostov, or zob ahan (even tho clearly there is interest). I hope somebody else swoops him at the last minute.
