I understand your point completely. Iranians standing on their own. That would happen in any system because Iranians in general are a cultured and hardworking people. They have been for centuries and they will for centuries after Islam. Islam had nothing to do with it.

Why is it hard to be a practicing muslim in UK? They have one of the largest Muslim populations, more extremist and uptight that in Iran. If you want to be a practising muslim what is holding you back? Is your family in the government in Iran? Uk?

Saying "our people jambe nadaran" is a big insult to a people.

He has never lived in Iran past the age of 9. Just the fact that he expresses such general opinions about Iranians is insulting.

        From the IMF:

Iran: In 2006, the IMF ranked Iran the highest in brain drain among 90 countries (both developed and less developed), with over 180,000 people leaving each year due to a poor job market and oppressive social conditions. In fact, it is estimated that over 25% of Iranians with post-secondary degrees live and work abroad, adding up to a total of 4 million Iranians living overseas. Iran’s brain drain is estimated to cost the country over $50 billion each year in economic losses.

does this sound like a happy country to you?

today we are the 6th worst. Who is worst than us? Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and S. Africa. 5 African countries. You must be very proud.

yes, we do have happy people in Iran. They fall into the 3 categories:

        1. hezbollahi
        2. akhoond jamat
        3. rich people with connections to hezbollahi and akhoond jamat

The reason why I asked is so I can tell you that your opinion on Iran is irrelevant as you have never lived there and probably have no idea what it is like to work, go to school and try to be a member of that society. As an actual Iranian, who left Iran 9 months ago, I find your assumptions about us insulting and belittling. But you were raised in England and that is typical of English attitudes towards Iran, you guys think you know us because of a few trips and a few things you have read.

Why don't you go to Iran and do your sarbazi and then let us know how Iranians feel.

Let's just blame the Sassanians. If they weren't so weak we wouldn't have this backward religion.

great comeback ....... when faced with facts and stats, go to the old, "you lie" defense

there are many lies thrown around, but this one is actually not easy to lie about. Most of these students leave legally, and so the number of visas granted to undergrad and graduate students per year is available. This is not rocket science. Ofcourse some do go back, but at least I have not seen a single graduate or undergraduate student from Iran going back. It's a small sample size, but given that it is California, I should have seen at least ONE student go back. Also, if you are trying to find the 4 million Iranians, check the US, Canada, Australia, Europe, UAE, malaysia, and many other nations with high number of Iranian immigrants. There is a reason why we have home field advantage when our football team plays in many of these countries.

Correction: your grammar is a joke.

My suggestion to you, other than improving your grammar, is to not discuss things you know nothing about and not speak about people you are not a part of.

I highly doubt this guy lives in the UK. I have a hard time following his english. I honestly think he is trolling

I hope I don't hurt feelings but I think the root of the problem is Islam. You hold your religion so dear, when instead you should be letting go and researching. Maybe another religion is the "right" religion? Or maybe there's no god at all? Until we Iranians realize the root of our problems, we won't prosper as a nation. That's just my two cents.

In my humble opinion, it is more tiring and boring to read the opinions on Iran of someone who has never lived and worked in Iran.

I hope so, at least that would be slightly amusing.
