I would like to discuss goalkeeper choices that is available to TM. I am intrigued to know why CQ favors Haghighi over other options such as Rahman Ahmadi.
reality is we dont have a good keeper since abedzadeh, even haghighi, during the asian cup peanlties against iraq, he could not save a single peanlty, not even one right direction
Haghighi is a good goal keeper, but I think he will face competition with Beiranvand soon. Especially as Beiranvand gets older and develops more, if he goes to Europe he has the potential to be very good. Haghighi has saved us a lot, his biggest strength is his confidence in my opinion, and he made the choice to go to Europe to develop. They are both far above any other Iranian keeper right now IMO.
No, he's not. He makes some random bafflingly dumb decisions. If you'd followed Naft's games you'd have noticed it too and to make it worse he's pretty consistent about them. A goalie can be slow, old, have poor reflexes, etc. but he can't make dumb decisions like he does. It hasn't diminished his profligacy with Naft but it'll destroy him in TM.
Hagheghi is the best we have atm. And the gap between him and his backups is wider than the gap between Rahmati and his backups in the previous era. Penalty shootouts are the worst place to judge a goalie. They don't happen often enough to be relevant in assessing a goalie's qualities. And I should remind people that Haghighi first came into the limelight as a teen in PesPes after saving Daei's penalty.
Haghighi first came into the limelight for his blunders. I don't think any IPL keeper had more mistakes than him, maybe Lak following this season.
Beiranvand's mistakes are no where near as many as Haghighi's. What he needs now is TM experience. Hopefully we can get him some action these next few matches.
gonna mention the 4 keepers that i think are worthy enough to consistently be invited to future TM camps. Haghighi/beir, to fight for the #1 spot as they both deserve it in my opinion. Hossieni/Akhbari to fight for the 3rd spot keeper. hadnt really seen anything from Akhbari till the olympic qualifiers, then i started following him with saipa, i must say he is a very talented keeper being pretty young. hossieni , i followed when he was the backup keeper for ss warming up the bench for rahmati. the playing minutes that he got, he impressed . no more forouzan/makani, as they are simply not good enough for TM.

Actually I think he guessed correctly on at least two, and got his hands on one shot.
I've always thought Rahmati was an excellent GK for us during his time as the #1. I'm more shocked that Daniel Davari never got a hold of the #1 spot. I felt like the WC was going to belong to him and he failed to take it. Haghighi is alright but he does show issues at time. Beiranvand is def the future, and if he goes to Europe, then I see him becoming one of the best GKs to ever play for iran.
i still think rahmati is iran's best GK skills wise, but too bad he has attitude issues. so with him excluded, i like beiranvand more than haghighi. haghighi has a very good physique for a GK but for some reason, i dont see him as the kind of GK who will help iran during hard times and stand out as a player on a pitch. beiranvand is too young and inexperienced but i think he can help TM more than haghighi if given the chance and we be patient with him. his ability to immediately start counter attacks quickly and throwing the ball accurately to the forward upfront is a very interesting factor which can help a counter attacking team like Queiroz's TM.

Hopefully we'll see Davari in form again. He's only 27 and still have a lot potential. Keepers hit their prime in the 30s, so he still have time to establish himself in a european club.
I guess the problem for Davari is communicating with other players since his Farsi is still very weak. For some reason, I think we have seen the last of him especially with Beiranvand coming up

...
I followed his games at Naft and dont know what you are talking about. At least not to the point of calling them baffingly dumb decisions. Indeed i agree he could have done better in certain scenes but that refers to every Goali. Even Buffon had a hardcore blunder vs Barcelona.
I indeed think that he will be our number1 GK in future.
IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.
Beiranvand is currently the best Iranian goalkeeper technically, he is more ''complete'' that any other keeper we have, just with 22 years of age. However Haghighi is slightly the best option for now as he is more composed and experienced, but the way things are going I expect that Beiranvand will be our first keeper soon.
