The starting position seem to be Haghighi's to loose for quiet sometimes to go..!!
Beiravand seems the most likely to unseat him, he will get a few chances coming up shortly, not so sure he can unseat Haghighi from top spot too easily and quickly..!!

Lack of practice is the main reason for not having great goalkeepers in Iran. Any one of them can improve a lot with practice, including Haghighi on stopping penalty kicks. But Iranian players are culturally lethargic and fail to work hard, hence why they rarely improve. We need a change from the root up before things start to happen. Having said that, I'd probably have Beiranvand as starting keeper for Uzbekistan friendly and gauge from there about who to start next.

I was impressed to see Haghighi come out during the last corner kick in the game against Iraq in AFC 2015, I think the one that Gucci ended scoring. For a split second when I saw him run up and join the rest of the team, trying to score, I was surprised since I rarely see Iranian goalies take chances like that. While I agree with what you pointed out, I do see him as a player who helps out during hard times. I was as surprised as everyone else during the PK kicks since I thought Haghighi will make some saves and help us get to the next round.

^It was so crystal clear that Younes will go for the chip. Even the commentator said that when Younes Mahmoud was getting ready to take the penalty.
Not putting the entire blame on Haghighi but c'mon .... zero out of 7 is poor.
IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.

Haghighi has never been anything more than a solid goalie. He never makes game changing or amazing saves. He has a clear weakness against low shots and it makes me not have as much confidence in him. Beiranvand might make some mistakes now , but by 2018 he is almost surely going to be a great goalie. He already has all the attributes

I think Beiranvand for his age is one of the most promising Iranian keepers of all time and if he keeps developing at the same rate, will be along the same lines as Hejazi or Abedzadeh.

If you're going to be a great TM goalie, you pretty much have to break into TM before the age of 23 (as did Abedzadeh, Hejazi and Rahmati and Haghighi) and that's why it's so important that CQ is giving both Beirnavand and Akhbari a chance.

IMHO, those two are our future and we have to stop constantly looking at yesterday and those who had their chance and lost their spots for good reasons (Rahamati, Ahmadi, Lak, Makani, Davari, etc.).

TBH, I haven't been too impressed with Haghighi post WC, but he is still a great goalie, the most experienced of the 3 and still has a long way to go in his career - I think some REAL competition from Beiranvand will do him good.

Alireza Haghighi is really weak in low-ground balls, be it penalties or shots taken from a notable distance.

I figured that the sensitive games against Bosnia and Iraq all goals were conceded with low shots.

I think opponents found out about this and try to score on us in this way.

Apart from that Haghighi is a pretty decent goalkeeper for Team Melli considering he barely played any games in 2011, 2012 and 2013. He even did great during the World Cup while being in the Portugese second division.

I believe Beiranvand should get a chance to sharpen Haghighi. Nothing wrong with competition!

TAHA ZAREI!! Not worry about future, this guy have a lot of talent, first iranian that training everyday with Rui Patricio, and gonna play in Second League with 19 years old in Europe. He is complete, very strong in one-one and good reflex

I wish Sepahan uses Amini at least a few games next season. He will be a beast and can insure the TM goal for 20 years. I believe he is 18.

Only if Haghighi and Davari could have a kid together, we would have a perfect goalie in 20 years...

                            Haha I agree,

Davari is excellent in low-ground balls because he know how to use his legs to save shots but he is poor in other departments.

I also think Berianvand will be our #1 in the future, but you are all exxaggerating, in the Bosnia game, the first 2 goals were perfectly placed, next to impossible to save, the third one he could've done better, but these things happen, did you all miss Neymars goal in the UCL final?

Mate, the goals he conceded during the Iraq game were in all honestly savable for any goalkeeper of his calibre.

His exits were simply poor but the defense also completely messed up on all three occasions too
