The second Bosnian goal was OFFSIDE anyway. It should not have counted.

The first one was savable, but the second one bounced off of our defender, nothing he could do about that (I think), and the third one was a penalty.

I indeed think that he will be our number1 GK in future.
I honestly didn't care enough for it to remember the last game he did this. But it was a couple of weeks ago. I'm actually totally okay with blunders, and unforced errors for someone as young as him. He'll learn from his mistakes. It's some of his dumb decision making that shocked me, and I know it sounds vague and evasive when its phrased like that without recollecting the exact games. Ferdosipoor was ripping him too. I remember watching him make his decision and it was a distinctly dumb decision, is that fair to say? I don't remember if it was a way off misjudged exit or a wrong direction early dive, but it was simply dumb.

Again, not trying to rip the guy. Probably has the best chance of any of our current IPL goalies to make it to Europe thanks to his epic throws, and his reflexes aren't half bad. But then again he has shown consistent random dumb decision making process. Mirzapour had the same problem and we all know how that went for TM.

Taha Zareei is a strong bet for the future. Plays for in Europe, you can expect him to grow rapidly.

Alireza Beiranvand is obviously a talented goalkeeper and will continue to improve if he moves to Europe soon.

Alireza Haghighi is solid, he's not amazing. He has enough to be Iran's number 1 but I can see him losing his number 1 shirt in a few years or less.

Daniel Davari is probably not gonna be seen in the TM lists for a while. It'll take something big like him having a 10 game clean sheet or something for CQ for reconsider but I still like him as a keeper. I think if he spoke Farsi he would be able to express himself better in the team for sure.

Rahman Ahmadi is done to be honest. Need younger blood. Same goes for Mehdi Rahmati.

There are others like Makani, Akhbari, Hosseini, Mazaheri, Forouzan, Salimi who were invited to the camps and they might turn good someday just like Haghighi did. He randomly became our number 1 just by playing a few games. It could happen to anyone.

Also just want to shout Agil Etemadi's name out. Does anyone think he has a future in the national team?

Nobody talks about etemadi....in his younger days he seemed to be very promising and even played for Netherlands U20 or U23 if I'm not mistaken.

He fell off the map for a few years even when he came to Iran for a year or two but I managed to catch 2-3 of his games and he looked really impressive. Definitely has European pedigree as his decision making seems to be first rate. Great reflexes as well.

I don't think he is in contention for a first spot at all....I'd still put beiranvand and haghighi on a different level than this guy but he's good enough to compete for a third spot with the new guys IMO. I'd like to see him get called up soon

As for the #1 spot, after seeing how well beiranvand played this season for Naft one has to expect he will be given a chance to snatch the #1 spot at some point in the next year. I think the GK spot is the one position that CQ has left totally open since being coach of TM and playing the very best keeper without any major controversy. So I'll leave it to CQ to throw Alireza in when he is ready but I definitely wouldn't be surprised if he starts him against UZB or Turkmenistan.

Haghighi' weaknesses since the WC (low balls) haven't seemed to improved much throughout the season, therefore IMO he hasn't solidified himself as a clear #1. Every GK has their weaknesses but this has been a problem for ARH since he was in PP and I fear that it will be exploited by teams who do their homework later on.

i believe he had a poor season in switzerland also? they speak german there, so he shouldnt be having communication problems with his team mates there??

                Ashkan Khosravi for TM.
I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.

That's what I mean by having to break into the TM squad by 23 to have a chance of becoming a good goalie for Iran. It's usually a HUGE confidence boost for any goalie that plays for a national team and performs well and at that age, it can certainly shape the next few years of their careers.

I only saw one or two highlights from the the Dutch league this season and I have to admit, Agil had some world class saves.

I have a feeling as soon as Daniel Davari learns to speak Farsi the way Fereydoon Zandi did when he first arrived, we will see more of him in Team Melli.

As for now, Ali Haghighi and Ali Beiranvand are the two trustable gaurds.

Both Haghighi and Beiranvand have something that a lot of other Iranian keepers don't have.

                    What is that? It's confidence.

Not to mention they're both good in goal.

Sosha is good and has retained his confidence. I'd say he's doing better than Forouzan.

But he's still shaky and not level compared to Beiranvand.

So that third spot should be open for competition.

But that's just me and my opinion

We are still in a dire need for a solid GK. WC is right around the corner, and I don't think Beiro is going to make a significant impact. This post is almost 3 years old, and we are still iffy on the GK situation.

With today's game ... they played Al sadd and he let in three goals. I'm not blaming Beiranvand for all the goals but honestly he was weak. In my opinion, all the shots were stoppable. It just seems that his reaction speed is slow, very slow actually. Now replace Al sadd with Spain and Portugal; kind of scary :s!

I didnt really think any of the goals were that saveable. Maybe the second one... But the rest the defense just left him high and dry. Jalal didnt look that strong and hasnt in a PP jersey for a while, although he was excellent against russia. I think Montazeri / Cheshmi could push for a start alongside PAG in WC.
