That's the best comment I read so far on FB after our victory in volleyball:

هواپیمای چارتر باید واس والیبالستامون بگیریم که اینجوری قهرمان دنیارو تحقیر میکنه...و الاغ چارتر هم واس فوتبالیستا که بفهمن تساوی با تیم ۱۷۵ دنیا یعنی چی..

IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.

This needs to be framed and hung up in IFF offices.

Iran will decimate Guam guys. This was the first real competitive match in a while on a garbage turf -- along with grass-rolling and a slip up in defending, it's going to result in a draw. We'll top the group and have nothing to worry about until the second round. But the result goes to show you how the gap between all teams in Asia is rapidly decreasing. Upsets are inevitable all the time in away fixtures, especially in situations where the host team has poor infrastructure that "powerhouse" team is not used to. Take a look at the Lebanon game. Same story, just a better result for us this time.

Please don't try to "console us" with facts and common sense and that adult stuff! We're "patriots"...we don't need common sense!

The fact is the gap is reduced significantly all over the world. Australia was dominated by Kyrgyzstan and barely deserved a tie let alone the lucky win. South Korea only managed two goals against Myanmar. In Europe Albania is now beating France, and Faroe Islands just beat Greece. These results were unthinkable a decade ago. Maldives was raped by us 17-0 in 1997. By 2000 we could only score 3 against them in Azadi, and by 2004 they actually held South Korea to a goalless draw.

Having said all that, we thoroughly dominated Turkmenistan and if we play them the same way ten times in the same stadium, nine of those matches would end in our favor with a large margin.

DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE OR YOU WILL BE SHOCKED!

Guys, guys guys. Only few days has passed and again we are witnessing an optimistic bunch that are speaking of thrashing such and such. Don't be too surprised guys. Unlike your comments, believe it. Gaps are not only closing, but in some instances, it has already closed big time.

You should note that Philippines rapid growth in soccer had not been just out of luck. Philippines have been able to beat one of the traditional highest second rank of Asia which is Bahrain. It has also been able to win in Yemen 2-0. These are not accidental. Thailand and Singapore are also growing very fast.

Please wake up guys. I refer you to the history. Once upon time there was a Burma, Pakistan and India team that dominated Asia. Things changed in mid 60s and on and there were three traditional power houses in Asia who had decent consistent results. Iran, Japand and Korea. Yes there were guys in the scene such as Saudis and Aussies but one failed later and the other one doesn't really belongs to the continent.

GUYS THINGS WILL CHANGE AGAIN. CHANGES ARE INEVITABLE!

IRAN WILL ROCK IN ASIA AGAIN IF IRI IS OVERTHROWN... MUBARAK, BIN-ALI, NOW IT IS THE TURN FOR SEID ALI

That just goes along with the so many unpredictable aspects of football. Nowadays set pieces, penalties, etc. are becoming ways for weaker teams to score and leave the stronger side in awe. That's what happened against Argentina -- except we didn't score lol, but then again we were robbed of a penalty that would've put us in a favorable position. Additionally, there's the tactic of 10 men defending and parking the bus hard.. along with time wasting and grass-rolling. It's modern day football and we shouldn't be surprised by it, especially when more and more Asian sides are exploiting these tactics like hell.

We must get a charter flight for our volleyball players who humiliate the world champions.. and charter donkey for football players so that the understand the meaning of a tie with 175th ranked team.

Well, hello there Captain Obvious.. I'm talking about worrying signs and reasons beyond this one game. His lineup was far too unbalanced and naive, but the team should still have played better after half-time with the changes, still we lacked leadership and the aforementioned players that are able to implement balance and bring stability on the pitch.

I did not like the combination of players chosen, so it was not an ideal team no matter what.

Having said that, if you let Brazil play against Banladesh the difference on a normal field may be 100 to 1 but on a hard durface the ball will bounce randomly and the difference may become 60 to 40.

TM is currently a team in transition and vast generational changes and such haphazard performances are to be expected occasionally..!!
when was the last time our TM routed Turkmanistan?? some teams we just dont match up well against regardless of their FIFA ratings ..! besides we dominated the shitt outa them for most part all game long, especially early on and it was mostly the inexperience and complacency of our younger debutants that prevented us from finishing them off early in the game and cruise to a comfortable victory..!!
its way too early to freak out, looking at the larger picture, imo, TM is on the right path with CQ and such wholesale transitions are vital for our long term success..!!
considering IFF's inability to arrange consistent friendly games, we have little choice but to do more experimentations in this relatively easy 1st round of WCQualifying..!!
I also highly recommend us participating in the next WAFF games and use it as further experimentations with our line-ups, tactics and especially rejuvenating our aging TM..!!

Its also vital for CQ to start experimenting with more Varied Attacking Schemes than the long ongoing(ineffective) counter attacking Wing-n-(aimless)crossing bs..!!

actually two players could have scored against Tkmstn. One Ali Karimi with his old style dribbles and the second Reazai with gholdori. against Turkminestan you need gholdor and not Guccci epecially one degenerated on arab land.

Players need confidence, none of the Iranian players in that match had any confidence.
