IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.

The way Iran was defending that day, we would not have conceded even if the game had gone on for another 2 hours. It just took one moment of brilliance from the greatest footballer in the world to sneak one past us.

Also to our bad luck, a forward(Gucci) was guarding Messi on that play. Had it been Ando or Nekounam, I am sure they would have been able to prevent the goal.

My heart literally breaks every time I see Amirhossein drop like that
But at least it will make the world remember how they struggled against us, and that we could and should have won that match.

That game showed what we actually are capable of, never forget the trash-talk from some so-called "experts" before the WC

No, CQ is too defensive, if only we would have opened up and attacked, we would have won. If only we still had Branko or another "attacking" coach again... I'm being sarcastic by the way if it doesn't come through text form.

People think CQ just gets lucky to win games, but seriously, we've had way too many good performances with a team without Ali Karimi's or Ali Daei's in their primes. Some people just think our wins are attributed to something other than the man's coaching. Or they ignore all the wins and focus on 4-5 games in a 4 year span. I can repeat them. Lebanon, Uzbekistan, Guinea, Oman and Bosnia. That's pretty much it. We were never humiliated in any game either. Even losing 3-1 to teams like Sweden and Bosnia, which is rare for us to concede, we never stop fighting under CQ. Our players play every game like it is a World Cup final, and CQ has instilled that in these young men. I'm sure someone will come complain now about how any other coach could do what CQ has done for us. So many good quality coaches are stepping over each other to come deal with IFF and their lack of money/ethics.

CQ loves us, and there are some dicks in Iran who's shoombools are so small that they just have to bring down others to have something to gossip about with their girlfriends. It's sad. We've never had a better coach and some people just want to complain because the football isn't entertaining to them. I can't wait for us to go back to entertaining football and lose games 5-4, 4-2, etc. People don't want us to be first in Asia winning games 1-0. They'd rather us be 4th and winning half of our games, but with lots of ultra attacking. It's sad that people don't know that many quality teams are using a defensive/counter-attacking 4-3-2-1 offense. I was watching Juventus vs. Barca and both teams were playing similarly to Iran. They were playing defensively and making sure they weren't shocked.

CQ instills in our players that we never want to be shocked, so they shouldn't get lazy on the defensive end. Without either fishy referee calls, or lack of a majority of our starting line-up, we've rarely lost in a 4 year span. What more do some people want? Us to lose in entertaining fashion and miss sit at home like 2002 and 2010?

Dejagah was guarding Messi all game but he was subbed 10 min ago. If he was on him it prob wouldnt have happened. At that point we could've even taken a foul there.

u know i try to justify it like that but nothing hurts more than that goal, no matter how i look at it. In a positive, yes it will go down in history as one of the biggest goals the best player ever scored in international duty (unless he scores some bigger ones in the future) but overall i feel like we got robbed that game. we just never get lucky in these world cup games. so many other teams have had crazy luck and even beaten some of these bigger teams, all we wanted was a god damn tie and it had to get ruined by a messi goal. A goal to a person with a wealth of goals and highlights vs. us as a whole nation with NONE!

I just hope one of these world cups we put on a good game and actually beat a good team and make our mark. its ok if we dont advance out of groups but at least let us have a day or two of joy by knowing we beat someone. Last 2 world cups we havent had a moment of joy, our only goals werent to be celebrated but just to hurry up and score another.

I feel the same, especially when the chicken $hit ref avoided giving that 100% accurate Penalty against Argentina, if he did then this game would have gone down as the upset of the century, but guess what? it didnt, because the Refs boss, FIFA is corrupt and Im sure he was too scared to award a call against the mighty Argentines, and lose TV rights and $$$ and have FIFA heads fire his ass back to Serbia for life! So I will take what they throw at me for now, until we clean house in FIFA and hopefully in AFC as well....
