CQ is not using all the best players available and that is a blunder... Ivancovic in comparison brought Iran's football out of the 2000-2001 disasters by relying on shahrestani contingent, but CQ is sadly not yet tuned in. We need selfless players who go in there with heart and dedication. Our culture is prone to pitfalls and that comes through in sports. My prediction is, Iran will fail to qualify for Russia 2018 extrapolating the pattern that was established in WCQ 1994, 2002, and 2010.

Should CQ be fired after Turkemenistan draw?

Iranians probably take the prize of over exaggerating after just one game. If we don't see improvement game by game or if results like this happen again then we can fire queiroz or conclude that we won't be making the World Cup. Japan just drew Singapore at home with a completely full strength lineup, is Japan really not going to make the World Cup? Also let's not forget that central asian are one of the only teams that can match us physically.

Wow you guys are really tripping out. It's the preliminary stages! Relax! Queiroz is literally using these games as test matches, friendlies, transition.
Iran doesn't have an abundance of test matches so these are the ones he has to use to try new things, yet you expect smooth results?
You expect Iran to have a plan b yet you bash the coach when he is wisely using these matches to addadd variety /dynamism to the team?
To understand NF these results, sometimes it's better to think outside the box and understand that no qualifying campaign is going to be 100% smooth.

Although it seems silly to most of us that this game should have been a wrap from the beginning, I'm happy we are performing poorly now then later. Don't forget our ultimate goal is to not only qualify for the world cup, but to also display a good performance rather than just show up there and take some other teams spot.
If we won 2-0 , 5-0 , or even 10-0, I wouldn't necessarily feel anymore confident in our ability to A)make it to the world cup and B) put on a good show at the cup.sigpic

it is draw or a joke?!
55 No

what is it? 95% popularity for CQ again? lol
It is not the end of the world definitely! BUT...
What it scares me are two main issues...
One is statistics and its mental pressure on the players and the coach: Iran a powerhouse in Asia that has wins against teams like Chile, Russia and even Brazil; has failed in its 5 encounters against Turkmenistan. Iran has never won against Turkmenistan and has conceded 5 gaols against 3, 3ties and 2 losses!. This will cause a negative psychological pressure on TM and its coaches. It is like any time Australia meets Kuwait, or when Italy meets Croatia or Slovakia.
Secondly, the way the qualifications are done this time worries me the most. With two factors being the most critical for our team. HEAD 2 HEAD rule for topping the group and with only 4 second best teams advancing to he next phase. Oman may cause a real problem for us and even shockingly put us out of luck. Would someone please let us know how the best 4 teams are applied here as one of the groups featuring Iraq has 4 teams!
Nevertheless, we all give Iran 99% of chance for qualifying to the next phase and probably a good 80% chance of topping the group. however we have seen in Asian Olympics, how a young Iran lost to Vietnam and could not qualify to the next round. Games from this point on has to be taken seriously and no team should be underestimated. Let's forget about breaking records. We got to go with the simple famous rule of winning our home matches and at least tying your away matches (with the exception of Guam and India; that we should at any given time and location come out as victors, certainly Oman will do that easily and comfortably, therefore we shall also win all 4 games against these weaker teams)
Some additional points:
Guam's train will be stopped. They are just enjoying their lucky run without seeing a real opponent so far with all respect to them. They should be praised for their performance so far with only 150K inhabitants.
Guam's win against Turkmenistan was an accident as the draw of TM against Turkmenistan was a semi- accidental event but not the strangest of all as we have never won against this team. hopefully we can break the deadlock in Tehran and add this team to the rest of Asia which we have dominated. The only country in Asia having a better head 2 head against us are Turkmenistan and Japan.
dejagah, Jahanbakhsh and Seid Jalal are a MUST from this point on. It is a fatal mistake to take this group as an easy one. We tend to have problems and mental setbacks against weaker team with young inexperienced players. If CQ wants to continue with the young players to have a strong experienced young team at phase 2, it is alright! we can take one or two ties. It has happened to Korea all the time when they are shifting to a new generation. They have losses against teams like Lebanon and Jordan or even draw against Guam. If that is the goal, then we need much more friendlies.... A draw against Turkmenistan is not a favourable result but considering a generation shift, it could me more disastrous than this. Worse than what happened, has happened before too. we could also send an old experienced team like China and thrash them, however with a long horizon plan, then we shall take some losses and damages before achieving our goals, however if that is the goal, again and again, we need better preparation.
One good thing Turkmenistan can do for us, is to repeat their great performance against Oman. If they beat Oman at home, our TM will have an easier route towards the top of the group.
Strangest of all,
Iran remains mid table situated at 3
japan remains at 4

Quieroz brought us to the WCQ with good games against Nigeria and Argentina! We had good chances to
win the Asiancup but we were ones again victim of AFC-Mafia and loose a game with pride and a big heart!
And know we draw a highly motivated Turkmenistan in their shitty ground without support of our fans and u aksing know for firing CQ?
What should Japan say? They drew infront of their fans, with top legionairs like Kagawa. Should they know also fire their coach like
the saudis? Do you forget, that we even loose one time to Lebanon but f..k them up afterwards in every single Game? That we Qualify for Asiancup an WC as Group winners?
That we beat South Korea three times in a row. That we beat Chile and played solid against Sweden?
Football ist about details. If Azmouns header would go in the net, we would be 2-0 upfront and it is very unlikely too draw the game. If we woul win the game by the same
playing style everyone would shake their hands and say good job etc.
These kind of critcism is not deep enough...
If u also put in mind the game away against S.Korea. Our victory was with a huge amount of luck. If Koreans would equalize to 1-1
everyone would blame TM. The point is that in both cases the Team had the same peformance but with different Scorings. And this difference is made by the details
which in some cases depends on luck.
Fact is we played better than our opponent, create more chances, had more possesion but loose. We played with young players and we
lost the iranian "Pirlo"=Nekounam. He organised the central middlefield and the defence. We loose Hosseini who is, in my opinion, the beste central defender that we ever have!
We will see how good TM is by the next games. I am very confident, that we beat Guam at Azadi. I just hope that the Azadi will be full for every
upcoming Game! We need a Hell!
We will see a different story against the Turkmens in Azadi believe me
Cheers

ahh. pish-posh.
why shd we panic? this is just one of those freak results that happen only once in a long while.
we'll advance quite comfortably and I guarantee it.
so to make an issue of this is too much of a kneejerk reaction and premature.
I think CQ is doign the right thing by slowly changing the generation at TM and THESE games are where he shd do it ... in stead of the more serious and difficult final round games.
so cool it chaps and dont fret

individual mistakes. Expect them to park the bus in the Azadi since it will be packed and we inform know about the capabilities of the Turkmens.
These statistics mean nothing. And dont forget statistics are there to break them
