I love nekounam and he is an amazing captain. But we need to learn to play our game and perform without his help. There is no point in bringing him back for these qualifiers then him leaving again when the qualifiers get harder and the World Cup. This was just one game. I would love it if he came back as assistant but not as a player. He has given his all for TM but he is past his prime and we need ando to take over his role (based on his past two performances he is no where close to ready yet so he needs more practice).

Name me one player who is a better DM and captain than Nekounam.

Don't tell me that someone like Ebrahimi is a replacement of Nekounam.

Ebrahimi is like a Fiat next to a Mercedes Benz (Nekounam).

Let's stop the freakout. everyone knows that when Turkmanfuckgrassroleristan comes to Tehran, they are going to get manhandled and humiliated. no need for Neku to come back. at least not for the second round, not against teams that we would defeat 99 times out of 100.

If Turkman "we are grassrolllers and have a very shitty field and we will host you in middle of nowhere" Istan, hadn't played so dirty in that game, none of us would be talking about Neku returning now.

No one is saying there is someone just as good or experienced as Javad, but that doesn't mean we need to rely on him for these upcoming games. If we can't handle these opponents without him, we don't deserve to be in WC.

Well it happened as we tied Turkmenistan 1-1 and we are in an unfortunate situation right now.

This group will probably be decided on goal difference, and we dropped the win against Turkmenistan. I think there are reasons to be concerned, because Team Melli needs to win all remaining 7 games. One bad day against Guam, India and we will have a big obstacle reaching the next round.

I stopped being so sure of us humiliating all our opponents after the Turkmenistan game, I take it as a wise lesson not to underestimate any opponent in todays modern football.

Of course we should be beating them 6-0 every time but minnows who are bunkering the bus 90 minutes long are not easy to break down nowadays.

Netherlands only won 2-0 against Latvia, Spain won 1-0 against Belarus, Greece tied Faroe Islands, so...lets be happy with a win against Guam the next game.

Come on guys. With all respect to our opponents, starting game day 5, everything will look normal. This team has to create its own leader. And believe me, this cannot be done in 3rd round where all opponents are young and fresh. We should go in with this squad and let them prove themselves. The only real danger in this group is Oman and for those two games, CQ can use Ashkan and JB as well. Come on guys let Neko rest and retire!!'n

This is a terrible idea which stinks of desperation. Nekounam did his service for TM for a long time and he did it admirably and now that he is retired he needs to remain retired. Also this is a total crutch. What are we going to do if we start slow in the next phase of qualifications? Bring back Nekounam or another retired team melli legend? The teams in our group are absolutely pathetic there is no reason to bring back Nekounam even if we were in a tougher group let alone this one. Better to go through the growing pains now

Well Ezzatolahi is supposed to be the next Nekounam. But if we have this mentality of players playing till the last drop (as we have seen in the past), then we risk burning the youth who don't get much experience till they are in their late 20s early 30s.

Ezatolahi should be given the experience to become the next leader in midfield by 2018, Nekounam will be 38 years for the upcoming world cup and Nekounam is definitely no Pirlo. He should become Quieroz's assistant. I believe Ezatollahi, Jahanbakhsh and Azmoun will be our key players for years to come.

This is why you guys are always angry and upset.

You believe everything you read in the Iranian media. Whether its transfer rumours pulled out of the clear blue sky, or rumours like this.

How often do the things we read in Iranian sports news (or any news for that matter) come to fruition? 10% of the time? Maybe?

This is most likely another made up report. Nekou doesn't seem like the type, especially so fast after saying goodbye.

It is enough if he join the TM-training Camps and share his experience with the young players.
He could also be used to make CQ ideas clear to the young players. But he shouldnt come back from his retirement. We
have the potential to develop a new leader and get out of the group as group-winners!
