The only way we are going to score is if they let one in.

Lets hope we can break the mighty Guam with the same score line next week.

Being tip top in gym is one thing on the football pitch against STAR players, is something else.

I wish Daei would have taken part. He is just arrogant, this comes from someone who always loved him during his footballing career as a player, but truth must be said.

In an interview a few weeks ago he told the reporter something like "Na baba ma vaght baraaye hamchin bazihaaei nadaarim, baayad team khodamo amadeh konam" and then the reporter in reply said: But Mr. Daei let's not forget this is not just one of those games, there is a great cause behind this match...

Nonetheless like last time we had the world team play us in Iran, most of their players despite their age, still were in great shape and pretty fit. Today players like Michel Salgado and Luis Figo were in an amazing shape, both still playing like super stars and running relentlessly. I wish our veterans would learn!

I think maybe Daei knew he would embarass himself, because he is in a real horrible shape.
And lets not forget that even during the last 1 or 2 years he played people in the stadium
made fun of him.. Chanting Daei bayad beraghse amd stuff.

Other than that i agree with you. Karimi retired just a year ago but it looked like he had retired 5 years ago haha.

Attendance was around 40k, all the world all stars seemed to enjoy it though saying it was a loud stadium, im sure the next even like this will draw 100k. Perspolis-AC Milan drew 70k if i remember correctly

But if you watched Navad special show yesterday, both Salgado and Roberto Carlos mentioned how they were looking forward to see 100K spectators in the stadium and that how it was one of their motives to appear in this match. I think the attendance was a let down.

It's really time for Tehran to build a new modern 50K capacity stadium in Tehran. Both Capital giants desperately need it, plus since these incompetent people in charge refuse to keep up with Azadi stadium's maintenance routine, the stadium's conditions is deteriorating and sooner or later God forbid we may witness a huge catastrophe in it!

On a side note, seems like our people have yet managed to tick off another international footballer (First it was Cannavaro and then Figo and Roberto Carlos this time):
