Chile just won the Copa America after 99 years!! Did Iran friendly awaken them?

They beat Argentina in the final. 99 years is a very very long time to wait, hence a condition must have changed... What do you guys think?

No...They were clearly the weaker team and they got through 2 games which were refed just as bad as Iran-Iraq match.

Also the weird format where they go straight to penalties definitely played a part.

No dude, a golden generation + hosting the tournament awakened them. What a fantastic game btw, one of the best 0-0's in a tournament. It had skill, pace, passion and thuggery. Absolutely on edge for 120+ minutes.

They played much better than Argentina, the ref was clearly against them and they didn't go straight to penalties, what are you talking about?

during the tourney not including the group stages and the final, if you tied u would go straight to penalties! no extra time.

I hope all you noobs recognized the fact that Chile basically used CQ tactics to defeat mighty Argentina. And they weren't the only team to employ such tactics.

No, Chile already knew that Iran was far superior they didn't need that friendly to awaken them

Iran beat this Argentina had it not been for that Serbien referee. Come to think of it so did Bosnia almost, if it wasn't for unlucky own goal

More teams will understand how to beat Argentina now. Gheirat, ugly football, and defensive discipline. It isnt beautiful, but its how you stop Messi and co.

that was a good win, but we didn't beat a full strength chile with all its starters!

Ansarifard only played like 10 mins so don't act as if we weren't holding back either

                          didnt see the final today
but the home-field advantage played a huge part in their championship..!! they got some really favorable calls going their way during the tourney..!! especially vs Peru in Semis..!

they were a pretty solid team nevertheless and played some good football too..!!
Aussies also for most part, similarly won the AFC..!

iran beat them,i agree, but they didnt play thier full strenght and iran would had a harder time if we were playing in santiago

Dude... both teams used "CQ tactics". Both teams usually heavily rely on the counter attack while stuffing their own box on the defensive end. Chile was more balanced because they had a way better midfield (shocking considering that Argentina has Messi). So your point doesn't make any sense at all. BTW, this is coming from someone who supports CQ's style.
