And I really don't want TM to get banned, as it unjustifiably unfair to both the players and the coach who have nothing to do this with this issue. It will effect the team more than the regime. The regime doesn't care.

I just don't get why women have to be banned from stadiums. I know its definitely nothing to do with religion, its just the regime's bizarre and extreme propaganda.

When Asian Cup happened in Australia, there were as many Iranian women in the stands as Men. I didn't see any problem or issue with that. Everyone was simply happy and cheering for their country.

It just makes sick of why Iran has to always has to try and be different from the rest of the world.
To be fair though, Iranian culture in Australia and Tehran (especially around Azadi) is totally different. You have educated expiats with high standards in Australia, while the people that go to Azadi are a big mix of weirdos and just regular normal people. I dont want to generalize, but I see where they're coming from with the rash language and cursing lol

This has nothing to do with Islam because there is nothing mentioned about women not being allowed to go to the stadiums and even in other Muslims countries women are openly allowed to go and watch football matches. Even several clerics say that a women's presence in a stadium is not against Islam. It's not an Islamic law but a rule that has to be changed. Its the regimes own self-styled ultra-conservative Islam being forced upon people for the last 30 years.

Iran is a theocracy. The main problem is in Qom which opposes any kind of opening.
We all saw how the government chickened out in the recent Volleyball campaign after the discontent of the"Marje'e Taghlid"

A alternative way is by changing the venue of TM. Yes, take it to another country with quite significant population of Iranis. That way the government cant interfere and unless the players boycott, it will work. If refused simply put on a ban. Equal rights for everyone or no rights for nobody.

Absolutely yes - neither religion or politics should be involved in sports .... This is just one example that needs to be stopped!

Yes, the IR needs to learn to play by the rules.

This issue is bigger than football. This is about equal rights for women.

              They would comply once forced.

No, the decision should come from inside. No institution/country has the right to force us to live based on their culture. If Iranian people really cared about this issue, then they would organise mass protests to allow Women in Stadiums. The sad truth is that the majority of Iranians (even Women!) Simply don't care.

Ostad, the thread isn't about: Iranian women having to cover up, it's about whether they should be allowed into the Stadiums to watch Football. Totally different.

Iran shouldn't be banned but if anyone thinks most iranian women, especially younger, actually want to cover up then they've never been to iran

That includes velaayate faghih and every IR institution that forces the rest of us to live according to their culture.

The BIG mistake that people on both sides of the argument make is that they think their own personal culture is the Iranian culture - it isn't.

Our culture is a collective of all the personal cultures of those who are Iranian - it is NOT a uniform homogeneous culture and the same way I can't tell you (toye noee) to live according to my personal beliefs, toye noee can't tell mane noee to live according to some set of beliefs I do not agree with.

This argument goes both ways and the sooner we understand that as a collective, the more successful we will be as a country.

Being a part of FIFA isn't a right.

It is a privilege. With that privilege comes certain rules one must follow.

If you do not follow those rules, then you should not be a part of it.

ridiculous way of looking at this, just because they are not saying anything about Saudi they should not say anything about iran LOOL

This question is more than football!! Just this one topic could potentially change IRI as we know it!! If they concede to this, than slowly they will have to concede on many other fronts for women such as Hejab, marriage, etc...

the Akhood regime knows this and they are not letting this get out of their hands. if we want to have a free iran for all, we want FIFA, FIVB to take an stance.

I will give up World Cup, World Volleyball League etc just so I can see equality for iranian women
