اولین دوره از رقابتهای زیر 23 سال غرب آسیا با حضور 10 تیم از 8 لغایت 22 مهر 94 برگزار خواهد شد.

DOHA: The Organizing Committee of the inaugural WAAF U-23 Olympic
teams championship has approved Doha as the host city to conduct the
draw ceremony of the prestigious event on September 6 in Doha.The prestigious WAAF U-23 Olympic Teams Championship will take place
in Doha from September 30 to October 14 in Doha under the supervision
of Qatar Football Association (QFA).The championship will bring together teams from Jordan, Saudi Arabia,
the UAE, Bahrain, Palestine, Oman, Yemen, Syria and Iran besides hosts
Qatar.

ز 8 لغایت 16 مهر 94 به مصاف یکدیگر می روند.
پس از پایان مرحله گروهی، سرگروه تیم ها به همراه بهترین تیم دوم از میان تمام گروه ها در مرحله نیمه نهایی روز 18 مهرماه به رقابت بایکدیگر می پردازند.
در ادامه، مراحل رده بندی و نهایی روز 22 مهر 94 برگزار می شود.

Apparently not since news is from IFF & WAFF.

What about Status of U22?

1- Last time they were together was a game they lost to KSA.
2-Their coaches and managers has no real contracts .
3- Their coach KHAk... failed to attend required coaching classes ( so far).
4- Most of players are key to their IPL teams and unlikely free for WAFF warm up games.
5- IF TM need key players for official games , TM will have them not U22.
6- There are alternative players( i posted a list) but so far none has been called.

مشخص شدن رقبای امیدهای ایران در غرب آسیا


امیدهای ایران در اولین دوره رقابتهای امیدهای غرب آسیا با عربستان و بحرین همگروه شد.

در گروه اول
قطر، اردن، یمن و فلسطی.

گروه دوم
امیدهای ایران .عربستان و بحرین .

در گروه سوم
امارت، عمان و سوریه

به رقابت با یکدیگر خواهند پرداخت.


با نگاهی به گروهبندی این مسابقات میتوان گفت که امیدهای ایران در گروه مرگ رقابتهای امیدهای غرب آسیا حضور دارند.

نکته جالب اینجاست که طبق اعلام کفاشیان ایران از کنفدراسیون غرب آسیا جدا شده و به تیمهای آسیای مرکزی پیوسته است.

The last I remember of this tournament was back in 2010 when Ghotbi was in charge. He steered the team to a silver medal.

I think you mean he steered the team to embarrassment agaisnt Kuwait. Iran had won 4 of 5 waff championships at that point.

Iran is in same group with Saudi And Bahrain. Last game of group B is between Bahrain And Saudi. Iran should not leave anything for regret. Iran must win two first games. Saudi & Bahrain are untrustworthy.-

im guessing, it'll be quiet a while before Central Asian competition gets organized and underway..!!?
meanwhile this is a fantastic opportunity for our Omid team to get a final tune-up before the final round of Olympic qualifiers..!!

in fact, so long they dont disrespect the "Persian Golf" name, we should always participate in WAFF games BUT with our OMID Team...!! lets face it, 70% of the time we have to go through bunch of these Ayrab goons inorder to qualify for AC n WCs, we can hardly muster Friendlies and Test matches for our TM on a regular and especially Timely manner ..!! our young footballers could benefit tremendously from such semi-Competitive tune-up tournament and gain much needed Experience ..!
CQ could also get a better grasp of which players can step up their game internationally and wouldnt need to waste too much time on those who arent cut out ...!!

we skipped the last edition, may be even Last2 Edition of WAFF?? and it almost came back to bite CQ in the ass during the WC14 Final qualifying games, when a bunch of our Oldies got injured/retired/kick-out and he had a difficult time finding suitable, somewhat experienced youngsters to replace em..!!

Iran has not won any soccer medals at any age group since 2010. So I would happily take that WAFF silver medal.

Our A-team lost to Kuwait B-team. Thats why most people have such a memory from that silver medal performance.

Well CQ had also accepted the WAFF tournament, but sent Simoez and Namazi in charge of the B players. I remember Omid Nazari scoring his first international goal against Yemen in this tournament.

As a general rule, you need to enter a tournament with solid intention to lift the trophy, or you'll end up in a loser comfort zone... like England or Portugal national outfits. These are big teams that never win anything.
