    Coming from a 1-2 loss a few months ago against SA, we have at least improved.

    And I agree that we should stay with WAFF. You don't want to play Uzbekistan over and over again as a means of preparation.

    Sure, we can play happy and honorable friendlies with Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. But their value to us will soon diminish. We learn more from playing the mean and tough arab teams. Perhaps that is why we have stayed alive in the football world despite terrible management for years.

    The arab teams are better than the Central Asian teams. They are also great for improving our temper management in the game, among some other benefits.

    What was the saying again? You learn more from your enemies than your friends.

      Too late. This is the last WAFF for iran.

      Best alternative is to arrange annual friendly games versus Iraq, Oman, UAE, Qatar , Syria . Although friendlies are not as intense as real games but they have their benefits..

      Second alternative is to create a Tournaments for our Youth teams in Khuzestan and invite them.
      We have currently every years few games with Qatar, UAE, and Syria , best is to expand it.
      I don't think IFF officials are capable doing the needful.

        Physically speaking, Central Asian nations are superior to Arab nations. If we help these nations raise the standard of their play, we will benefit from it in the long run. Lets not forget that we tend to struggle against physically bigger teams. e.g.: Bosnia, Sweden. We play a lot better against technically gifted teams e.g.: Argentina, Chile. Even though Arab nations have better technical teams, playing against physically stronger teams will improve our game.

        Another point would be that, just because we play in CAFF doenst mean we can't play in WAFF. Just look at Mexico they play in the Gold cup but have also featured in Copa America. I say lets take advantage of our geographical positioning and play against both federations. The more games we play the better we will be.

              Nice goals. What was behind Motahari's celebration gesture, by showing number 6 with his fingers to the camera, on both his goals? I didn't get that!?

              Our defensive blunders were quite worrisome, not to mention the goalie's fatal negligence and exits, especially on the second goal.

                He was showing 24 for Hadi Norouzi Damesh garm!

                Yeah he should definitely be called up to Team Melli if he keeps it up.

                    Just as it looked as if we were going to win after 2 up in 15 minutes, we let down our guard. Khakpour was right, we should've scored more than 6 goals. Dammit.

                    Motaheri's goals were pretty awesome though.

                      Our youth shows the same crap we have been witnessing back in the 90s.
                      Giving a game away like this is borderline criminal.

                      Havent we developed at all? Of course the players movement and style of play has improved a lot, but at the end of the day...

                        1- Best 2nd can not be from group C but only from group A or B.

                        Case of Group A.
                        Qatar will beat Yemen. will advance as top of group A.
                        If P beat J =>Iran advance.
                        If J beat P => Iran Advance.

                        It does not matter how J beat P since result against 4th team will not count and J will end up with 4 pints and +1 G. Iran has 4 points and +2 G

                            How have Iran advanced if Saudis' game is still left?
                            Or do you mean Iran would at least get the best second?

                              Regardless of Saudi_Bahrain Game Iran has already advanced.
                              1- If KSA beat Bahrain by more than 2 goals:
                              Qatar, Saudi , Syria ( Can be UAE) will advance as the top of group and Iran as a best 2nd team
                              2- If Saudi unable to win by more than 2 goals:
                              Qatar, Iran, Syria( UAE) will advance and Saudi will go home.
                              Iran has already 4 points and +2 G. no other possibility for any other teams as a runner up( impossible for them to have 4 points)
