Afshin Ghotbi accepts assistant coach job of Curacao national team

I had never even heard of this country until they hired Patrick Kluivert as their head coach not too long ago. I'm not gonna lie though, after looking at their squad and seeing they have recruited quite a few good players (basing it solely on where they play of course) I must admit this team can be semi decent.

Still a major step down for him but nonetheless an interesting challenge. Best of luck to him

He accepted to help the head coach only for two matches against Elsalvador.

Even a country like this has a player in the Premier league. They have a defender in Southampton apparently.

It's a beautiful country in the Caribbean and I would suggest you to travel there during the winter time

I've been to the Caribbean several times....to dominacan republic twice, Bahamas and Jamaica once which is why I am surprised I never heard of this island.....and you're 100% right there is no better place in the world to be in the winter time than the Caribbean, at least that's a stereotypical northeast opinion is say.

Eh idk if I totally agree with that....his resume surely shows he's far better than this but if it's just for a few games like persianlegion says than I guess it doesn't really matter!

They compete in concacaf, which is why when looking at their squad you can definitely see some potential.

As mentioned in other threads. I've been there and it's indeed paradise.
And some dutch member already explained.
Curucao belongs to the Netherlands means most players hold dual citizenship and enjoyed dutch soocer youth and development program.
The potential is huge. Be sure we will see more of them in the future.
IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.

I'm surprised you didn't hear about that country, there was one footballer (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sendley_Sidney_Bito) from there in Iran Pro League and made huge headlines because of Firouz Karimi's remarks about that player!

I remember this guy and when karimi called him a bad name and didn't shake his hand....I knew he was from a Caribbean island but didn't know which one.

To clarify, Curacao has couple of players who are in the 3rd-4th tier of The Netherlands. Nothing spectacular...

Afshin Ghotbi may coach any team but he should not come close to Iranian National team. He said he knew Korean team very well in getting the job.

Let Mr. Ghobti make his money somewhere else.

Actually their squad is pretty impressive for such a small country..
1 player in championship, 1 in Premier League (Southhampton), 1 in Bundesliga 2, few in Jupiler League (NAC Breda, Helmond Sport), ... Not very bad
