    ---------------Azmoun---------------Taremi-------------
    ---------------------------Dejagah-----------------------
    -----------Hajsafi--------------------------Amiri---------
    ------------------------Teymourian----------------------
    -----Mohammadi--Hosseini--Pouraliganji---Ghafouri--
    --------------------------Haghighi------------------------

    Reasoning behind selection:
    - Haghighi: Has been a fairly solid keeper for the national team, although he is not playing in Russia he is at least training in Europe
    - TBH I chose Mohammadi because everyone else was, I don't actually know who he is, I just don't want Hajsafi as LB
    - Hosseini needs no explanation
    - Pouraliganji has been playing regularly and was great in the Asia cup, he didn't perform well against Sweden but I haven't seen Montazeri play recently so I still give him the nod
    - Ghafouri has been a great asset for TM in RB I am very happy with him and Rezaeian is a good back up for now, but ghafouri is better
    - Ando also obvious
    - Hajsafi if he isn't tired from traveling would be great to have him in LM he is very fast, and having him play opposite side of Amiri would be awesome
    - Amiri is a rising star in our midfield, I think having him on the opposite side of Hajsafi would make it very difficult for our opponent to deal with, they are very similar players, both are fast and have great stamina
    - Would want to see Dejagah further up so he can play in a play-making position, he doesn't have the speed to be in the wing, and has an great shot, he can go for some long range efforts or set up the strikers with his quick passes, or go for a solo run himself
    - Azmoun is playing well in Russia and our best striker currently and Reza is injured
    - Taremi is maybe the most surprising selection but having two strong strikers with too fast wingers behind them, and the support of Ashkan in the middle is very dangerous, he has also been playing well recently I think he would fit well with this lineup

    SUBS:

    - K. Rezaei => Taremi 60th minute (I think he has been playing well recently and I have a gut feeling that he would score a goal) or possibly Rezaei would come on for Azmoun as he has a habit of getting injured.. lol
    - Alishah => Amiri 60th minute (another quick winger that never tires, bringing him on when our opponent is tired would be a smart move)
    - Karimi => Dejagah 75th minute (I would assume Dejagah would gas and would need a replacement)

    Side note:
    - I know my formation would never be the selected formation, but its a dream :P In reality I expect to see Heydari playing... and only one striker. Also I think Ezatollahi has a bright future, but he has not been playing with his club from what I know and I don't think he is ready enough for national stage yet and this isn't the game to risk it. Go TM

I'm not as familiar with the players as many of you are, but I would like to see the following:

      1) Beiranvand as the GK. While this is a important match, it is against Guam, I would like to see him get some TM experience. He is already a solid GK in the PGL.
      2) I would like to see Ando be a more assertive captain in the match.

I would still play him but he seemed to be easily pushed over in the Sweden game and Carlos even took him out at half. Also Montazeri is always a safe option, but I haven't seen him play recently.

          --------------Biranvand------------------
          Ghafouri-Hosseini-Kanaani-Pouraligangi
          --------Teymourian-Hajsafi-------------
          Taremi--------Dejagah-------------Amiri
          ---------------Azmoun-------------------

          Torabi for Azmoun
          K. Rezaei for Dejagah
          Ezatollahi for Teymourian

And for everyone about to note that Pouraligangi doesn't play LB as his natural position, please note that he's already played LB for TM a couple of times before, and did well. I believe against Chile or Sweden, he was deployed as LB, and did well. The guy is like Hajsafi and seems to be flexible in his position between CB/CDM/LB.

I would definitely chose Kanaani over Pouraliganji. Atm Kanaani seem to be doing better than Morteza who's team is also badly struggling in the Chinese league (15 out of 16 in relegation zone). He is also younger and physically much stronger.

Maybe Pouraliganji could start vs India for offensive set-pieces

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Beikzadeh played LB in both of those games.
At least I'm sure he did vs Sweden.

I think Beikzadeh may have been actually CB, I remember him being tested in that position a few times

I'm 100% sure he was LB vs Sweden. Pouraliganji and Hosseini were our CB's, with Montazeri as our RB.

I'm sure I've seen him play that position for TM, but Camran may be correct that I messed up which game. He may have switched from the center back to LB in a game like how Dejagah switches from RW to CAM to ST. I just remember that I felt confident when PAG was playing in the LB. More so than I usually feel with Hajsafi. Hajsafi is a great Midfielder and LW, but as an LB, he is scary how far he moves forward, and doesn't always cover his defensive duties. I think PAG, as a natural CB, has the workrates to come up when needed and get back to defending when needed. Many teams use players of PAG's height and body type as a side-back. I agree with some that PAG is skinny, which may cause us trouble against stronger teams if he is playing CB, but I think he is perfect alongside Hosseini and Kanaani as LB until he gets older and bulks up to move back to CB like Sergio Ramos.

I've always liked the idea of a strong-styled LB who can stay back while the right winger like Ghafouri moves up and the defense becomes a 3 man defense while the rest of the team attacks, and we don't have massive holes down the wing for crosses. Our conceded goal to Turkmenistan was a result of Hajsafi being too far forward, and us getting caught with only 2 CB's trying to stop a play down the wings and cross to the middle. With Kanaani, Hosseini, and PAG acting as 3 CB's while the other players attack, our team would be stronger in my opinion.

As an attacking LB who is left footed to curl in crosses, I do not see PAG as that kind of player. I think Amiri and Hajsafi can cover that part of the attack, as they are both very lively players. PAG can stay back for the outlet passes to relieve pressure off of Hajsafi and Amiri as they work down the wings.

Yeah, you might be right too, I'm not saying Pouraliganji never played LB for TM, I was just sure about the Sweden game.

Yeah, I was thinking when posting that I may be wrong about the games, so I might be wrong. I'm excited to see the lineups, as I'm sure CQ will have some surprises. It's actually quite possible that Rezaeian starts at LB. I remember he did a good job there too when he played in that position in a game.

Also, the teams may be different in both games, as I'm sure there will be some fatigue after the Guam match. It's actually unlikely that Dejagah and Azmoun start both games, as their stamina is quite low. I predict both to start against Guam, us to beat Guam who is currently on 6 points, and then for us to play with more of a backup team against India, and beat them to to hopefully top the group if Oman drops some points.
