If you actually look at Daei's career, you can see he lost his starting spot as soon as he would leave for TM games.
And he was still good enough that Bayern bought him from Bielefeld and Hertha from Bayern (which to this date is the highest transfer fee for an Iranian ever).

This whole calendar issue didn't get resolved until 2003 or so.
How much did they buy him for?

      Exactly.

I watched every single game of him in Germany on tv of course Event went to Bielelfeld once to watch him play vs Cologne (Azizi) that time.
His time at Bayern was tough because Jancker was having his prime scoring left and right.
Then Elber was a fix player and Alexnader Zicker, another tall german striker.
He did not bad at all.
He moved to Hertha Berlin (it was a brothers deal. Diether Hoeness, brother of EX Bayern presdient Uli hoeness was the presdient of Hertha back then)

Daei played well and beat Chelsea himself in the champions league.

What i love about his send goal is that the 2 defenders who fucked it up were both french national players and current world champions looool.
      Marcel Desailly & Frank Leboeuf

And his goal vs AC Milan of course

IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.

In Hertha he also had to compete with 2 strong strikers. Michael Preetz and Alex Alvez who by the way died last year.

True. Preetz was very strong. Alves died 3 years ago

Watch out for Neymar guys. He's on track to beat Ali Daei, and I'm afraid he will.

Like most Brazilian players, he will retire from the national team at 28

That's actually a great point. Very few Brazilian players keep their good form for long, at least in the national team. Also, Neymar is a hothead who hurt Brazil chances hugely in Copa America. Dunga dislikes him.

Lol are we really going to sit here and compare Ali Daei's achievements to Rooney's? Hahahha, on another note though Rooney is horrendously overrated right now.

Then he'll have 8 less goals.
                                Not bad eh?

Do we say the same thing about strikers like Klose and Keane and Villa who score goals against teams like Andorra, Luxembourg, San Marino and Malta...?
I never understood the logic of this criticism of Daei.
As long as he scored against the opponent, he did his job. Forwards score goals. Even today all of us would take an in-form Daei over any of our forwards.
