Considering how TERRIBLE we played, I'm pretty relieved we came out of this match with one point, but more importantly taking two points away from the Al-Mighty Oman!

One more slip-up could very well mean finishing 2nd in the group and making an exit from the earlier rounds of WCQ for the 1st time ever - we've already dropped more points (4) than at least 4 2nd placed teams (Kuwait, Australia, Syria and Uzbekistan [leading 3-0 with 20 minutes to go against Bahrain).

disastrous performance by TM, no flow at all. Our goal was so lucky but a tie is good result for us. Oman deserved the win. Get your heads outta your asses for Japan game. first real test for TM and Taremi cracks like i said he will.

i think they were set up originally for the official live feed of the game, but since irib had not paid for the rights of the broadcast last time and were denied access this time, footbalitarin couldnt broadcast as well..!
irib ended up stealing an Arab feed, thats why you could hear arab commentary in the background the whole time..!! footbalitarin probably didnt have a back up plan..!!?

...I watched it on Footballtarin, even had a Persian commentator.

I also want to remind folks that Iran has always struggled in the first rounds mainly due to overconfidence. The boys take other teams lightly and this mentality has always plagued us. Let me remind you Australia lost to Jordan today, Iraq drew with Vietnam, China is losing to Qatar as we speak... do not take these results seriously just yet. Everyone will bounce back and our real test begins the next round.

One quick example, WCQ 2006, we almost got knocked out of the first round after losing to Jordan, and we needed to recall Azizi and Hashemian's heroics to secure a 3-2 victory against Qatar to qualify to the second round where we breezed through everyone.

I don't understand why there were so many errant passes and bad touches. The boys looked lost out there. Then they got scored on, woke up for 10 minutes and played like Iran, then went back to sleep until the end...

This is a coaching issue. And before everyone gets their pitchforks out, know that I am not saying to fire CQ. I'm saying that the tactic coming in was to defend the ball and go for the tie, in this away fixture. CQ is conservative, and that makes for some frustrating play. I am excited for the future games, when he can experiment more, and hopefully find players that make him comfortable to push forward.

Hats off to our boys!! They played their hearts out in that heat! Must give credit to Oman, they played well and put us under some pressure in the 1st half. You could tell that they ran out of gas in the middle of the second half and were content with defending with 11 behind the ball after they scored. Our boys though pushed up the field and pressured Oman until the final whistle. It was a hard fought draw, and we'll take it. One away win, and two away draws, zero losses. This while we are in transition from the old guard to the new!! Not bad if you ask me.

Waste of time...Our MF was crap,Strikers couldn't do anything we pretty much went in for a tie game and that's what we got.Ashkan,hajisafi are not on form at all.what a shit show. I am CQ supporter but am getting tired of this boring defensive style and when we get scored on we start to attack...it's boring football!
