FIFA World Cup 2018 Qualifying: Oman - Iran @ Sultan Qaboos, Muscat; 08-10-2015

Omans list is out. Most of their team plays in Oman except for their Goalie Al Habsi( Reading) and their midfielder Al Farsi(Al Raed in Saudi). Looking at their squad their defense is a lot shorter than I expected. Their wingbacks max at 172 cm. Their CBs max at 182 cm. Hosseini/Montazeri/Rezaian/Pouraliganji are all taller so our corners should work well.

Their main threat is Ahmad Al Hosni( who scored against us in the Iran-Oman 2004 game. Hes 31 now. For some reason, Ali Al Muqbali, who scored on us in 2013 when Oman won, was not invited.

Their team does not have many young ones in it though. They have been playing together for a long time based on the number of caps each player has.

Apply tactics that CQ did in Doha in the WCQ. Forget sbout their mind games. Focus on your game. If you have a problem, tell the ref( or tell the captain to).

I hope we score first half. Every ME Arab team besides UAE has no idea how to play an expansive offensive game.

Get an early goal and watch Oman loft up balls like old Hadi Aghili used to make.

All Arab teams play Iran for a tie. They sometimes win on pure luck. But they all know how to play Iran no matter who the coach. As a matter of fact CQ is just learning how to play Arabs.

Now if we score and score early they gladly open their legs wide for more Iranian input.
