How is cq not at least somewhat at fault

Did he not chose the tactics? Did he not chose Hajsafi as left back after the numerous times he hasent performed well there?

I have nothing against CQ, his resume speaks for itself. He qualified us for the World cup 2014, a huge accomplishment. TM played very well against Argentina and we got 1 point against Nigeria with minimum investment. We cant expect more from this team.

But to be honest, he failed in the asian cup like Ghotbi, Ghalenoi and many more... A friendly win against Chile does not mean anything. Chile won all the important games and became the champions of copa america. We did not even finish top 4 in the asian cup.

I dont count random results from friendlies when I assess the quality of the coach/team. You have to win when it matters most.

After four years with CQ I think its time to bring a new face, someone with new ideas and motivation.

People think if CQ goes, IFF and the sports ministry will do their best to bring another great coach!!!?? trust me, THEY WILL NOT!! we will end up with the Farakis and Galenoies at most for many years. we need to hold on to CQ with tooth and nail as much as we can as dark days will linger for ever if he goes....

So don't try to make it sound as though people are drawing comparisons between Iran and Argentina or Germany.

And based on what logic do you feel that we should wipe the floor with all other teams, because we've had such a professional footballing culture in Iran for decades upon decades, and our footballers have been nurtured and developed from youth and .....??

I assume you believe that it is the coaching and nothing else that is cause for our sub-par performances from time to time, right?
If blah blah blah offends you, you need to stop being sensitive. It's not like I cursed at you or something.

I am suggesting that we should win all our matches, what is the point of playing if you aren't playing to win? And yes I am suggesting that we should win all our matches in that region. TM doesn't even deserve to go to the World Cup if they can't even muster a solid win against Oman, this is AFTER a tie with Turkmenistan. Ya, OK, the tie with Turkmenistan was TM's "off" day, how many "off" days is TM going to have? Year after year is the same thing, IFs or BUTs so that somehow with some miracle TM makes it to the WC.

I base my logic that Iran should be wiping the floor with all the other teams in the region on the results TM has had in the past and with what TM has at its disposal. Iran has had a national team, playing football since 1941, Oman played its first national game in 1965 (even if you call it that, first official Oman game wasn't until late 70s). That's a 20 year lead, so hows that for your professional footballing culture in the region compared to a country such as Oman?

You are correct, I assume it is the coaching. And I am willing to bet you assume it's the government.

EDIT: Before all the CQ fanboys jump at me and start yelling, I am not saying CQ needs to get kicked out. I think he is doing a decent job, but some of his decisions make me question his mentality. I believe he is stubborn and only focuses on his own methods, and even if a player doesn't suit a certain position, he probably thinks he can morph them to play that position. I would really like to see him move some players around.

In today's football results are simply not predictable.
Of course based on experience and individual player skills we should have one the match, but in reality Oman national team is much closer to our performance level than a lot of people want to believe.
This is not a bad thing actually, just shows that asian football is progressing from the days when Ali Daei would score 15 goals against Maldives.

you know your football history well, but you fail to mention that every time we have had a big coach at the helm, he was replaced by a "smaller" coach!!

so finish your history lesson by including this line as well. do not just say CQ is just like qotbi and QN. If CQ leaves it is guarantee we will have a "small" coach for a good while and once he FUCKS up then they will bring a big coach.

BIG Tomislav Ivić --> SMALL Jalal Talebi -->BIGBIG Branko Ivanković ----> SMALL Amir Ghalenoei,Parviz Mazloomi, Mansour Ebrahimzadeh, Ali Daei,Afshin Ghotbi ----> BIG Carlos Queiroz

so you follow this pattern?!?! I think the answer is very simple
                IRI = FAILED

^ True. If CQ leaves IFF will have a hard time bringing another name like him. And no. No domestic coach can function in Iran tabloid culture.

But at the same time, CQ needs to clearly understand that we expect quality. And that is missing from any of TM games. The results are not that important to me so long as I enjoy the way we play.

I can't blame Queiroz too much for his tactics, we simply don't have good enough players.

I think the players played below their level because of the weather. Notice it was not only one player who did not live up to the expectations but all of them. I also think we should give some credit to the national team of Oman. They play african style foodball and it is not easy to deal with their passing style, dribling and so on. Remember once they are in Tehran we have professional players like JahanBakhsh, Gucci and shojaei with us. So I am obtimist at this stage.

                        !
It looks like that each time an opponent sends the ball from left to right Haghighi is in trouble because there comes an oppening. It was first discovered by Iraqis the sweedis and now Oman.

                          Great post. Thank you!

Our entire team underperformed in this match. I was shocked to see our boys playing so poor. They lost possession so easily, so many wrong passes and terrible shooting attempts. The amount of turnovers by our midfielders were outrageous.

But again it's football and all teams have their flop days, well I confess, our TM typically bears it more often than other teams!

I am pretty confident, in Azadi we will witness a totally different TM and indeed Oman as well. Hope to see an Oman thrashing day!

Weird how the u23 team can keep possession with good passing and movement. But of course tm can't keep possession because all the players are shit very inferior to the mighty Omani players, nothing related to the coaches style and tactics.

You are right, CQ out and Khakpour in. Our passing will eventually improve 10 fold

This is not at all reactionary. This is based on careful analysis of the past year, and nothing at all to do with 1 game each from TM and u23 that we watched. There was nobody calling for khakpour's resignation 6 months ago after a string of abysmal games. That never happened.

Our league is full of attacking and precise passing on a weekly basis. It's not only occasional good football that we wish we saw with more consistency every week.

Its crazy how with such amazing passing and attacking in our league and u23 and u19 team, our senior TM magically cannot pass.
