    Iran - Japan Player Ratings...

Hey guys, please do your ratings so that I can include it in the match article.

The two players with the lowest PFDC average rating for the Oman match were dropped from the starting line-up against Japan - things that make you go hmmm

Our ranking didn't make the TM coaching staff sit players out. It really doesn't need to make you go hmmmm.

Football is a team effort which also includes the coaching staff.

I do not like to emphasize one or two players, especially if they come from an injury.

I would like to Judge the whole team. The whole team did well.

        Thank you.

Haghighi 4 - worst goal he has conceded in his TM career
Ghafouri - you can't really rate, got injured early on
Hosseini 6.5 - solid performance, nothing stand out but did his job
Montazeri 7 - a bit better than Seyed Jalal....did great at finding the midfield in starting counters
Hajsafi 7 - huge improvement from Oman, ran a lot harder (besides the last 10 mins he was out of gas) and marked well. Had lots of tackles.
Ezzatolahi 7.5 - very solid, looks more and more promising.
Ebrahimi 7.5 - huge improvement, very few mistakes from him today
Dejagah 7 - solid, ran and played hard
Amiri 7.5 - dribbled the Japanese D like it was a walk in the park. Amazing touch too
Azmoun 6 - below average, he's been far too quiet as of late
Rezaeian 6 - not bad but not good either, added a lot of pace but he could've done better
Torabi 8 - MVP today, looked hungry as always and plays SMART
Pouraliganji 6.5 - had two major turn overs that nearly cost us but saved us in the end
          Team Meli Iran
          Perspolis FC
          Malavan Bandar Anzali

As my high-school English teacher used to say with a Serbian accent, ob-viously!

What it does suggest though, is that the PFDC community as a whole had a very good objective look at the players, not much different from how the coaching staff saw the performance of those players.

keep in mind that haghighi saved our ass during our one on one. That was truly a world class save

                    Good game.
Very different from our official games. Shows we can do better, but somehow we fall short when it truly matters. In other words, we know the potential for a quality performance IS PRESENT. We only have to transition this into official games.
Similar to the pre tournament Iraq game where we beat them, but when it mattered a week down the line, we fell short!

                    HAGHIGHI - 3
I am still not convinced about Haghighi. Yes he saved a 1 on 1. But he did what a goalkeeper SUPPOSED TO DO. It is his slip ups and howlers that ruin things for us. And this hasn't been the first game where he's had a howler. Nothing surprising though. When he doesn't get any games at his club, while waltzes in at TM and gets card blanche, obviously doesn't see any need to improve or push himself!

                    DEFENSE - 6
They did pretty good till minutes 60-65. But when the Japanese coach gave the order for high press, the defenders fumbled and quality dropped.
                    Hajsafi is wasted at LB.
Rezaeian at RW was at best average. But when he was brought back to RB, he flourished and did extremely well. Reliable alternative for Ghafouri.

                    DM's - 7.5
They did well and showed good composure and fighting spirit and energy. So much that the recent average Ando was not really missed.

                    MIDs - 8
Amir had spectacular patches here and there. The other times also he was good. A big difference from his recent official games.
Same thing for Dejagah who had started to worry us with his poor official turnouts. Poor penalty shot though, but Torabi saved his blushes. Needs to work on his stamina. The gutter league is like poison for our players.
Torabi, when he came in did very well by showing great energy and pace. The kind of hunger that was missing.

                    STRIKER - 6.5
Azmoun showed some good patches and some not so good ones. Maybe because he needs a backup or partner to take off some pressure off him. But he certainly has the talent and uses his height well. We can see a better Azmoun.

Edit: in my excitement to see an improvement in TM I may have been too generous for the scores. So a levelheaded me would knock 1 off every score off all. So an 8 is actually a 7. And so on.
I'm just happy to see the team show a better form.

Guys keep in mind Haghighi was good majority of the game and only had one bad slip up. I think he deserves more chances since he is still our best gk. I would also try
competing Beiranvand with Haghighi to who should start. He deserves a 4.5 at least in my opinion.

Other than his other saves, Haghighi had a fantastic one on one save! One unlucky punch where the ball hits the Japanese player and goes into our net should not bring his point to the lowest!
