Rumour has it that the groundsman of estadium Azadi has agreed to forward 5% of his salary to Rahmati for his aid in keeping the grass flat today.

How many of you, think "Esteghlal" should be changed back to its original and rightful name "TAJ" ?

          totally am for it.
In regards to the game, Perspolis showed us that they are playing some great football, and deserved the win. MOTM was mosalman imo. HE played some intelligent football. Taremi was also once again vital, and played very very well, he deserved a goal as well today.

I asked the same question a few years ago: You can find the thread and the answers to this question here

As expected, this derby turned out to be an entertaining and attacking football. Perspolis however displayed a much better and more beautiful football in the second half in particular and deservedly equalized.

Perspolis' biggest shortcoming as we all know has been its poor defending and of course failure in converting great scoring chances, thus wasting so many golden opportunities in front of the goal, Alishah's 100% sitter, and Norollahi's miss in the first half were just mind boggling. We had several of such blunders in the second half as well. Kudos to Rahmati for displaying such an amazing and above IPL performance, saving so many possible goals. his reflexes and saves made it so hard even to the most biased Perspolis fans, not to admire and acknowledge his brilliance in today's derby match!

Overall a great derby it was, and I believe it catered towards everyone's satisfaction, be it the neutral football fans, furious Esteghlalis for having conceded a late equalizer, and frustrated Perspolis fans whose team wasted so many scoring opportunities, yet happy with the stoppage time goal.

Perspolis' young team will mesh better week after week and they will definitely impress, especially in the second half of the season for sure!

Mazloomi's quick tactic conversion, and pulling all the way back, absolutely a huge blunder. It was just too early to retrieve and start an all defense football, only relying on counters. The only soft criticism one may address on Esteghlal is that phony rolling in the stoppage time, which absolutely worked against his team, resulting a Perspolis goal on the added minute to the stoppage time as result of his rolling.

Kavian jaan, As much as we'd like to see that happen, it's just unthinkable to see the IR let something like this happen. They would more look into something like "Aba" (Turban) JK

Although I do agree that Mosalman by far was our best and most influential player today, however those damn saves Rahmati made throughout the match, declined all our scoring chances. He single-handedly deprived us of a sexy win!

Yet he comes out and says „I am happy my team played in a way that Perspolis are happy with a draw."...
His team mainly consists of Rahmati & Heydari, but kudos to him though, this works in PGL and he almost went through with it today as well. Esteghlal's finishing in general might be the best in the league, they only had 2 real chances today and one of them was the goal.
Horrible comparison! First of all CQ plays defensive when the opponent is superior + he always has a great counter attack plan, not depending on one player overall. But SS is leading the table and played as if they are facing Bayern Munich in the 2nd half, defending with 11 men and not being able to produce one decent counter attack, only relying on Rahmati to save them.
I don't think my comparison was wrong. You need to think about TM and the list of talented individuals in the team and compare it with SS. The only advantage SS had to TM is Rahmati but in all other areas CQ has best of Iran with possible replacements. (for example Ghafouri/Rezaian/Torabi). SS was playing against a technically better team in my opinion and resorted to the same mentality of CQ except a lot weaker on counter attacks. This game was a copy style of Iran-South Korea in 2013 when Iran scored early on second half and defended with 11 men. luckily Persepolis pulled a last minute goal and dispelled this harmful mentality which had plagued SS in last season. (scoring one goal early and going in defending fold but losing your advantage eventually)

SS only was taking the ball to the side on counter attacks and their wingers didn't performed well in this match except the goal moment.

I am a fan of offensive football of our pre-CQ era and I think CQ is very conservative defensive minded coach but he has his own advantages which makes me to support him on some areas but disagree with on others.

Now the question is would CQ invite Rahmati to TM again ???

just because rahmati had a great game does not warrant an invite.

For the first time after a long time, I can confidently say the encounter between this two teams were a brilliant ad for Iranian Football.

Crazy and perhaps naive, but Hats off to The blues for attacking in the last minute and crossing the ball into the box instead of taking it to the corner area and keeping possession!

Well done the Reds for attacking non-stop and getting what they deserved in the last seconds....

TM plays at international level, against stronger opponents, under more pressure and has less time to train together - BUT it makes absolutely no sense to directly compare a club with the national team, just wanted to go with your logic here...

Even if you think Perspolis is technically better, point was that the gap isn’t too big between both teams. The way however SS started to go for all defense made it look like they are the underdogs playing vs. some mighty team. As said, I really don’t like to continue comparing club & national team for obvious reason, but just sticking to the tactics: there is a HUGE difference between CQ's formation and what we have seen from SS today. I really don’t want to go into detail - it’s an insult to compare CQ's smart modern defensive game with an eye for counter attacking - with that of Mazloumi's typical old Iranian reaction blindly defending one goal, only hoping for the final whistle (like Ali Daei recently with Saba). Had it not been for Rahmati, SS would have lost the match easily - similar to many other games of this season where he really saved Mazloumi's face.

And what kind of offensive football prior to CQ are we talking about? I don’t why some people like to make it look like we destroyed every Asia team by 3-4 goals before CQ arrived. That being said, CQ is slowly heading towards a less defensive approach. Reviewing the matches against Chile, Sweden or Japan - TM actually is starting to open up the game more even vs. stronger teams.

Don’t get me wrong, you have all the right to dislike CQ tactics and I have no problem with your opinion. However claiming Mazloumi resorted to the same mentality of CQ is completely false to say the least and more or less proves that you might not have understood CQ's vision.

Really enjoyed this derby! I hope to see TM call-ups for Mosalman, Yaghoub Karimi and Ahmadzadeh. Mosalman and Y.Karimi were far better a year or two ago, then had a difficult period afterwards but it seems like they are back at their best, Mosalman was quite solid today, his creativity and vision could really help us in the CAM position.
