These triangle shaped balls are good for training due to unexpected bounces and movement. This is especially used for keeper training. Similarly to an American football or rugby ball when it bounces and changes direction.

I prefer to see them in Iran in a bad pitch than training on a golf pitch in arabestan

To be honest with you, I don't know the exact reason for that. I've seen trainers use either a wooden paddle (from the sport Paddle Tennis) or a regular Tennis racket. The trainers that I've seen use the wooden paddles say it is easier to control the ball, aim the ball and can better control the balls speed. I've also seen trainers just throw the tennis balls and not use a paddle/racket. The point of the exercise is to help with the GK's reaction time, weight shifting and directional changes with having the tennis balls come at you continuously at a rapid pace. I would not be surprised if some people even used Tennis ball machines.

They bounce randomly and help with hand/eye coordination. I think they call them corpus training balls.
