^^i am surprised that it has not been done sooner, i was expecting this sooner. we do not even have the infrastructure (stadiums, tv etc). just base on that I would have made iran 2+1 if i were the president of Asia. let not get emotional about this and start hounding me about what I am saying. it is the truth and sometimes truth hurts!!

China's football within several years will surprise us all!

China, Qatar etc.. might be improving their leagues, but their teams are still entirely based on their foreign players. Their domestic players are probably not even top 10 in Asia, our teams are the opposite and we tend focus on domestic development so we can't compete always as well in the ACL. As amazing as you think the Chinese league will become, their National team will not improve at all, just watch couple of games of Pouraliganji over there or our Iranian legionnaires in Qatar, goals are scored and assisted by foreign players 24/7 and domestic players are not even of average level. PAG, Montazeri and others were struggling a lot more to stand out in the IPL than in their current leagues.
I wouldn't trade their leagues for ours for anything, as much as some of you look down on our domestic players, you will never see the CSL, QSL or UAE league producing players like Ghafouri/Ebrahimi/Torabi/Rafiei/Beiranvand/Hosseini and hundreds of other players in our league, in the near future.
Like it or not, most of our top IPL team players would be starters in all Asian national teams out of the big four. Obviously, we have incredible facility issues, and other professional problems everywhere in our league but we will never stop producing better players than all of these lovely mentioned leagues The reason why our national team is stronger is because our teams and academies in Iran produce superior talents to the rest of Asia.
Oh and if anything, Uzbekistan who has the same number of slots than us should be losing spots, they've been much worse than Iranian teams. We've done as well as Japanese teams recently, so if we should get less spots based on performance so should they.

China's national team tied hong kong twice and lost to qatar which pretty much has them out of world cup qualifying. They can buy as many foreign players as they want but it will come with a crappy national team as their domestic players wont improve.
And no iran should not lose spots. China isnt even in west asia so not sure what impact they would have on the slots. Even if they were, only one chinese team (guangzhou) has made it past the quarter finals in the last decade and since 2007 only guangzhou has made it past the round of 16. 1 team doing good doesnt merit extra spots. Iran did just as good as the persian gulf teams in terms of teams in the next round so no reason of lessening the quota. This year will probably be better with the esfahani teams back and if they should reduce teams it should be from uzbekistan.
