Not many leagues can say that.

No doubt the MLS has quality within the league. I believe that some Iranian fans are very dismissive of other leagues like MLS, sadly. All these comparisons between leagues in different continents is very unnecessary, though. We can likely never know. We should respect the other nations' leagues like we would want them to respect ours, though. We wouldn't like if others wrote our league off, so we shouldn't do the same. We should look at everything critically and rationally. Not black and white like some do. Lots of variables. Sometimes, IPL could have a group of teams on a great run of form, like Sepahan a few years ago, who I think could have done well in many European leagues. That team was amazing. MLS teams have had really strong times as well, like LA Galaxy a few years ago. We should take all of these variable things into account.

After top 3 salaries TFC has a huge drop off. That is the main problem with MLS. Big decline in salaries once you get past the top 3 allowed player salaries:

      Beitashour only gets paid $230,000.

Is Steven even in CQs plans? He played very well in a crucial match last night, But Rezaein is hands down better, However if there is an injury I could see Beitashour as a suitable replacement, No harm in calling him up and giving him some time

i think CQ dont believe in him any more, if not they would have send scouts to see him play

Just for the record, I wasn't comparing MLS to IPL. There's no doubt that MLS is miles ahead of IPL in terms of everything really. I was merely stating that I have no problem watching a league that's annoying, and even then, I get quite frustrated watching MLS games.

Also, to the poster who said a league is as good as its top talents, I completely disagree. Look at all the older European players in MLS, Chinese league, and the Australian A-league, and how they are not able to perform to their full potential because the talent surrounding them is a joke. When you do see these guys perform well, it's usually because of their individual brilliance and not because they are getting service on the pitch.

In any case, good points all around.

Beitashour is a right foot only player who lacks speed and strength. He is not at the level of team melli unfortunately. Furthermore he is about to turn 30, which doesn't make sense for having a less skilled 32 year old right back going into the worldcup.

Idk man... I mean if Toronto go on to win the MLS playoffs this season it will look really good on his resume. I'd still like to see him float around TM area, not like we have some astounding RB at the moment anyways.

What happened to Danial Mahini? Is he playing yet at all this season?

I don't agree with this particularly with Rezaeians current form and Mahini also playing quite well in the league and Vouria already on the TM bench. I would rate all those guys higher than Beita.

Well then look at all the players in the MLS who are active and have had national team caps...

                      https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List...onal_team_caps

Look at their WC2014 list. The leagues you mentioned don't even come close.

Not sure what to take away from this, half of them are canadian and US players and a lot of those who aren't have caps but do not currently play for their national teams.

Yes but these are all capped players. Add international players and this is one of the most diverse leagues outside the big 5. If you look at China or even IPL their numbers are not even close.

The link above is all foreign players in China's league. Active are bold. They have had many foreign players with no national caps...out of the active ones even less have international duty. Look how many come from nations without a single WC experience. Don't let the numbers skew your view. Quality over quantity.

TFC is currently the highest salaried team in MLS. It's a business move for them because they have an extra 10,000 seats they have to sell tickets for.

I've watched a few games Beitashour has played in and that was my assessment. He is right footed only and is really slow and weak. He isn't to the level of team melli.

Most of the guys on that list are from really poor footballing nations or regional countries like Jamaica, Costa Rica, Honduras, etc., for whom MLS is a good stepping stone to further their careers. Most of the players on yourlist were capped only a handful of times. The European calibre players moved to MLS teams after their careers were over in Europe. Are you seriously suggesting that the likes of Henok Goitom with 2 caps for Eritrea, Stephen Sunday with 1 cap for Nigeria, Omar Holmes with 2 caps for Jamaica, Erik Friberg with two Sweden caps, and Hernan Bernardello with one Argentinian cap provide quality? Come on.

I agree the bigger names like Pirlo, David Villa, and Drogba certainly do, but again, their production is significantly hampered by the lack of quality around them.

And btw, I think you being from Canada makes your argument sound really biased. I judge a league's overall quality not by the best players but by the lowest common denominator. You can bring in the best talent from around the world but if you don't have any local talent, your league will mostly suck (See MLS).

he is almost a polar opposite of CQ-preferred, pro-typical WingBack..!!
like i said a million times before he is just too slow, and more importantly a Stand-offish, Highly Risk-avert, Stay Home defender who simply doesnt suit our Pressing, High Energy team defensive tactics, especially so considering big reliance on WingBacks contribution to our counter attacks in our TM current system of play ...!!
not so sure he even have Stamina to last a Half, doing everything that is expected of him in current TM set up..!!?

still, its good that he is cap-tied to us, in case of emergency RB shortage situation, he could easily be recalled..!!
