Exactly. And when you have to choose between backup players, you choose the person who will fit better with the team. Unfortunately, that leaves Esteve out.
We are currently witnessing a revolution in Iranian football. Team Melli has never been stronger than it is today, and we will only get better.

I know a lot of you guys love MLS but it's a weak league.

The Mexican league is the best in concacaf and is the only league in concacaf with a high level of intensity

You believe that as a pure defender, Ramin is far superior than Beita? Watch us get Germany tomorrow. Ramin pushing up wont do shit. you will play completely defensive minded. Also, Ramin never played against Lyon, get your facts straight if you are gonna call me out lol . He played against Marseille and got subbed out in the 46 min in the home fixture. But yeah he played one full game the game before that.

Doesn't really make a difference if it was marseille or Lyon.

The point is he was fit enough.

Semantics or a mistake in which ligue 1 team doesn't really make my argument weaker at all.

Let's get back to the question.

Besides the coach giving him partial minutes for a few games, what is your logic for saying he isn't fit ?

Besides the minutes, the reason I believe that he isnt fit is that when I watch TM games, he does push up and have a positive effect, but he is always swiping at players with his feet, and struggling to get back, which is common to do as a defender when you are tired. He also gets burned quite a bit on the right side. But hey, if you guys think hes our best option that is fine lol no problems here

We will get the stats of his distance covered in the WC.

he has a good motor and seemingly is in good fitness and form
but yea, he is definitely a weak man-marker and lightweight defensively and against certain strong, tricky LWingers we are likely to get exposed rather easily @ WC down his right side. ..! Ghafoori is my favored of the two and seems a safer bet at W, but then again he looked like shitt his last run out in TM too..!!

and no Esteeve is not a solution either..!! lol outside the injured and useless Hashem, esteeve was the weakest and least deserving member of our WC 14 Traveling squad..!! i dont know wtf CQ smoking taking those two and leaving behind the likes of Sardar, AK8 or even KB...!! ?? i guess his only plan was to take a bunch of defensive players park the bus in all 3 games..!?

Latest from Beitashour regarding Team Melli from recent interview with CP24:

"While Beitashour was born in San Jose, both parents are from Iran. His father came over to study electrical engineering at San Francisco State where he was the soccer team's MVP. He went back, met his wife and returned to the U.S. to work for Apple.

His mother always spoke to the family in Farsi so Beitashour understands it perfectly and speaks it well, although he says he is embarrassed by his western accent.

He made his debut in Tehran against Thailand in October 2013, with the fans chanting his name in the warmup.
"It was a lot of fun. There were so many people at the airport at four in the morning, just waiting for my arrival. That's what really made me feel welcome, all that, all the little things," said Beitashour. "And then the fans, the thousands of them, they said in Farsi 'Put Beitashour in', they kept it going for a good two, three minutes."

Beitashour grew up idolizing Brazil because of the way it played the game. His first poster was of Brazilian striker Ronaldo. So he was doubly delighted when Iran selected him for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. It proved to be bittersweet, however, as he did not see action.

"I'm right there, at the front door of it all, in Brazil. You couldn't write this up any better ... I'm knocking, I'm trying to get in," he said. "But I just couldn't get on the field. So it was tough in that sense."

With his wife and several good friends on hand, Beitashour watched from the bench as Iran tied Nigeria, lost to Argentina and beat Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"Probably the most difficult part was getting the thousands of social media messages, like thousands, saying we can't wait to see you play tomorrow, we can't wait to see you play. Everything. And feeling like you let all of them down by note getting in," he said.

                So what happened?

"There is an explanation. That will come in another time or day," he said without elaborating.
He was subsequently called up by Iran for the Asian Cup in 2015 but was unable to play because he was coming off a hamstring injury.

But he says, as far as he is concerned, the door is still open."

                  I wish brother... I wish

That being said, I freaking love Steven.. Such a hard worker, never complains, and is really one of the best fullbacks in the MLS... Sad he was never really given a full chance with Team Melli.

In retrospect, watching Heydari get manhandled by the Nigerians. One wonders if Beitashour knew how to speak Farsi well then Carlos would have put him in the match.

I think there was a fear of miscommunication which would cost us a match. The same with Davari. I don’t know.

Heydari was not good against Nigeria. I’m a fan of Heydari but he was absolutely awful vs Nigeria. So yeah, I wonder.

Heydari played RW vs Nigeria, not RB. So I don't see how Beitashour would take his place.

Smh a starting player in a cup final isn’t called up at minimum to the bench for TM, hopefully should they win this he’ll be called

Yeah I will never understand what the hell happened. There has so be something we don't know about beyond the small things (long flight, timing). There would have been at least a call up once in the past 3 years, no call up is a red flag that something else is going on

I honestly think that Vouria and Ramin are both just better than him
