Indirectly sport related, difficulty of travelling to Europe - UPDATE
We are beginning to see this new discriminatory act, HR 158, going into effect in different parts of the world. Just today Rana Rahimpour, a BBC journalist was stopped from boarding a US flight due to her dual Iranian/British nationality. Accordingly, US authorities told her she could no longer fly to the US under the visa waiver program (VWP) because of her Iranian citizenship.
This is why we must all UNITE and take ACTION...NOW!!!
There are many organizations, both Iranian and non-Iranian who are joined to fight this act. But they cannot go very far without our help.
One of the ways they are going against HR 158 is by implementing a new Bill HR 4380 "Equal Protection in Travel Act", which urges Congress to support us.
***TO TAKE ACTION NOW in support of Bill 4380...please go to this link, follow their instructions to sign up, email, make calls, etc.:

Others in support and sponsorship of Bill H.R. 4380 are Rep. Justin Amash (R-Michigan) (3 cosponsors). For more information visit:

For those new to this Bill HR 158 (VWP), here's the specifics on who it affects:
There are 2 parts to this bill: 1. Dual citizens of those 4 countries on the list (Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Syria) regardless of if and when they visited these countries, automatically must get visa simply because of their ethnicity. 2. All non dual citizens of 38 countries who have visited the 4 listed countries in past 5 years will have to get visa if the 38 countries agree to this bill. As of now US has passed this bill. When and if it does go into effect it will require as an example a German who has visited Iran in past 5 years and now wants to visit USA to get a visa before entering. Once that happens then by reciprocal laws Germany will in turn require a US (non dual) citizen who too has visited Iran in past 5 years to get a visa for entrance into Germany. So as you can see, this is not just Iranian's problem or the 4 listed dual citizens. This is affecting all around the globe, especially those who are medics, journalists, peacemakers, businessmen, tourists, families, etc.
This is the new proposal Bill HR 4380 (Equal Protection in Travel Act):
This bill will reverse the dual national provision in the recently approved omnibus spending bill that prohibits dual nationals of countries such as Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Sudan from participating in the visa waiver program, regardless of their travel history. The bill would allow those dual nationals to participate in the visa waiver program and would not alter the travel ban for those who have actually traveled to specified countries. A companion bill will be introduced in the Senate by Senators Flake, Durbin, and Booker.
