The UN, EU, and US lifted nuclear-related sanctions on Iran today, freeing up about $100 billion in frozen assets, as well as restoring economic trade and transfer of funds between trading partners. What implications will this have on TM (easier friendly negotiations, funds from participation in WC to improve team training facilities and equipment, improved support for coaching staff)? Overall, I think the overall effect on TM and football in Iran will be positive once sanctions are lifted. I'm sure many cynical comments will point out the enduring corruption, politics, IR limitations, etc, but despite all of this, I look forward to seeing how TM (and Iran) take advantage of this renewed economic freedom to improve the direction/speed of change.

Things are not all rosy. IR has a lot of debt (mostly to Iranian banks or companies) which bites big chucks of that money and there are other problems beside low oil prices or imminent global recession.
Take a look at this to understand what I am saying a bit.

"US officials estimate that after Iran has settled outstanding debts and bills, notably to China, they may be able to get their hands on $50 billion."

Thus, while it certainly is never "all rosy [sic]", having extra funds and the ability to trade (not only oil, but goods such as carpets, kaviar, pistachios), and the ability to perform banking with other nations will be a significant boost for Iran's economy. Lastly, the tourist market is primed for a boom in Iran, which will significantly increase as Iran updates its airline fleet.

Hopefully we can build a decent training ground in the next few years like CQ asked...don't think it'll happen anytime too soon since it's still Iran we are talking about after all but hopefully by eid of next year perhaps.Team Meli Iran

diz, cannot you do a spell check before posting??
Iran will get its own money AFTER 37 years.
Sanctions will continue on Iran. Nuclear was an excuse. If Iran tries to be independent or does not get along with USA (Israel), there will be sanctions (many of them illegal) on Iran. Rule of force has replaced rule of law.چو ایران نباشد تن من مباد
