Khakpour has to be one of the dumbest coaches I have probably ever seen. You don't change half of the team after a bad performance vs. Qatar. 2-3 changes would have been enough. Not impressed by our quality of play. We have a talented squad but we are not using it the way we should.

How can we lose to anyone when we have this shotstopper? [emoji12]

Can someone explain to me his save against Rah Ahan. How was that even possible. It is by far the best I have ever seen a goalkeeper make!

Watch the match (2-2) again between Iran U23 vs KSA U23 and tell me again if they're better than us.
Iran deservingly won the WAFF and did exceptionally well.
Just because they made a few errors here and there does NOT automatically conclude that they're not as good as the Saudi U23 or the Qatar U23 for that matter.

If anyone thinks Omid team will not win then what is he doing here posting negative comments as hashieh and gossip.
You don't have to be here if you do not believe in the team's success. Shoertcomings are there but your prediction and negativity does not add any value to hopes and dreams of a nation. Please keep it to self and if God-forbid something goes wrong then you can write here and say: I knew it. we shall then say good for you Mr. foretuneteller.

FLASH BACK INTO ASIAN GAMES 1998: (Amature Olympic level)
Nothing is impossible in football. We actually perform better with a loss in Group stage.
Iran suffered a shocking 4-2 loss against Oman. Later Iran barely qualified to the next round only to get stronger game by game; embarrassing host nation Korea in the semi final and then taking the crown by beating Japan 2-1 in the final. That was Iran's second back to back championship in Asian games and 4th title in total, a record yet to be broken by an Asian side.
Therefore, losing to Qatar doesn't necessarily mean that our team doesn't have the quality to reach to the final. I have to agree though that our coaching staff had not been great. They are claiming playing B players was just to keep key players for the tougher opponents. I hope now they act on their promise and go with strongest squad from here on. Let's have faith even though it's hard to do so knowing that MK is there. However I wish him all the success as his success is our nation's success.sigpicSUPPORT TEAM MELLIIRAN- IRAN - ONLY IRAN

IRAN WILL ROCK IN ASIA AGAIN IF IRI IS OVERTHROWN... MUBARAK, BIN-ALI, NOW IT IS THE TURN FOR SEID ALI

It's not impossible to beat Japan but when looking at all facets of both teams, it's not difficult to realize that they are better prepared. It's no joke that German and Austrian scouts have come to Qatar to watch Japan and South Korea in particular. When members on the forum are saying that we can only reach the Olympics based on Torabi's individual brilliance, it implies that the team as a unit is dysfunctional and the manager does not have a solution. Unless the team magically becomes a cohesive unit in 3 days, all the Japanese have to do to neutralize us is place an extra marker on Torabi. As someone else said earlier today, "the ball is round" but it doesn't take the fact that the odds are stacked against us.

^ good point.
One other point: China had nothing to lose but for Omid it was the matter of life and death. that s why some of our players were not even half of what they used to be. ask a sports psychologist.
There is no question that Khakpoor is not the greatest coach but we do have a talented team that can be as good as any other team in the tournament. Constructive criticism is good and we can say all we want about who did well and who did not.
However, when we write that Omid team has no chance to advance we have to think about what we wrote. Just think how confident the Japanese and their team will be when we give in here and pronounce Omid team as a loser before the game. So, we are not good cheer leaders. All I said was to refrain from saying OMID has Zero Chance Against Japan. Who benefits from your words? do you really think you are contributing if you say we shall lose for sure?
If this is not clear, I will download Behnevis and write in Farsi next time.
Molla nasreddin had a daughter and he went to market one day. He saw a cow being sold. The owner said the cow is pregnant and molla learned and came home and said the same to khastegaar.......
I would not be surprised if Japan ties or loses the next match. The teams in this tournament are so close and only 1 or 2 great players with better speed or better kicks or better last pass make a big difference. the turnover rate for ball has been very high in every game.
