The world of football is moving at a rapid speed and coaches who are in top levels, just like doctors are constantly keeping themselves updated and continue to study and learn the new modern football. So what Mayeli Kohan was able to achieve in 1996 was absolutely remarkable and he introduced us with many young players and there's no doubt about it but unfortunately he hasn't been able to get the same results ever since.

Just like Ali Parvin was great for Perspolis for a period of time, he never was able to produce those results again. Why? Because while everyone else were studying and getting themselves educated with the modern football these guys still relied on their same old tricks which didn't work. Another prime example is GN who did great for a while but once the new blood and generation of coaches came on board he couldn't produce the same results.

A young and talented coach from poor family who also helped our NT as a player took the control of national team. He brought so many unknown players and no one believe he could bring back our former glory in 70s. We lost the first match vs Iraq 2-1 but match after match the team showed their excellence and genius of a young, insightful and promising coach. We won the match against Thailand 3-1 KSA 3-0 and South Korea 6-2. We lost a controversial match in semifinal on penalties vs KSA while Azizi's goal was not counted. Finally we beat Kuwait to take the 3rd place in AC 96.

It was the spark of a moment in our football which brought so many great players and Iranian domination of Asian football for about 10 years. It was because of kind and friendly coaches like Mayeli kohan who worked closely with great talents who they find from some weak teams playing in local leagues. It was due to type of coaches that our football introduce so many talented players.

For past 5 years our football has been in hands of CQ and Vingada and alike who has been paid 10 to 20 times more than our own Iranian coaches with worse or same results. While our beautiful and enjoyable attacking football turned to an ugly ultra defensive anti football style. Our last play makers Ali Karimi or Khalatbari were put aside and slowly the fun of the match disappeared. The teams we used to crush by many goals started to challenge us and we could only pass them by 1 or rarely 2 goals.

Our future with this defensive style is grim. We need to bring back the likes of Mayeli Kohan before it becomes too late. We are forgetting our Iranian style of play. Our younger generation has turned almost fruitless even those who go to European leagues are nothing significant anymore.
        Kerm Dari? Or what?

actually, he was indeed part of a coaching class program where a delegation from IFF where staying with few Bundesliga clubs for few weeks to gain experience.
QN was with Leverkusen under Daum, where he attended Leverkusen training practices as an observer as part of his IFF coaching license.

tbh GN did well in his first years as headcoach of SS and Sepahan, but then failed with TM badly at Asian Cup, some say he was appointed too soon for TM job...

One thing that annoys me abt GN, is his criticism of CQ from time to time... I mean come on!!!....lol

                Additional achievements of MK:

-Taking charge of Iran's best ever Olympic team in 2004 and failing to even pass the group stage.
-Finishing bottom of the league / relegating with half a dozen teams in the last 2 decades.

It was luck for MK, not skill, that he had a bunch of good players at that time and place. And then mental instability set in...

So much energy is being wasted on Mayeli Kohan!

Whatever this man did in the past is fine and dandy and no body is questioning that, but it is 2016 now many years has passed since his so called accomplishments. We need to look to the future, to new ideas and to new blood to help fix the issues of our football. Trying to settle the case of Mayeli Kohan vs. The Modern World of Coaching, is serving no purpose but to further ignite the controversies, bullshit and chaos this man has brought to our football. I have no doubt that he is also the voice of the "Pasdar" faction that has peneterated into our football community to ensure football never advances and never falls in the hands of people who love and care for it and want to move it forward.

It's really hard to respect a coach who cries his eyes out in live tv because fans insult his mommy. He doesn't belong in Iranian football anymore.

Credits for Mayeli Gohan?! Stop trolling dude.

The golden generation he had as head coach was due Vasile Ioan Godja who discovered the likes of Karim Bagheri and Dinmohammadi.
This guy barely made it to France 98 with the likes of Daei, Azizi, Bagheri, Abedzadeh, Minavand, Pashahzadeh etc. looool.
IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.

I think GN is a top tier IRANIAN coach, but that said, hasoodi is probably the reason why he is saying things like that. And tambali is the reason he does not do what Carlos did and go become a student again and learn, train, and evolve his tactics.
