Haghighi seems to be heading to GIF Sundsvall on a contract that will be up this summer. I guess continued playing time in Sweden heading up to WC and free agent during the WC if he manages to qualify for the squad and put on a performance (given playing time).

Following up with Hormozgan's announcement. According to Swedish sources, Haghighi has signed a short term contract (Until the summer) with Gif Sundsvall:

"Allsvenska goalkeeper: The club has not broken me!

Alireza Haghighi rejects claim that GIF Sundsvall should have terminated the contract.

According to the Football Channel, GIF Sundsvall has broken his Iranian goalkeeper Alireza Haghighi after he was told that he would not play against the Brommapojkar May 12th. This after passing the bench the eight first rounds. But Haghighi still has a contract with "Giffarna".

- That's right. I wrote on a short-term contract that expires in late May and both me and the club intend to complete the contract, says Haghighi to svenskafans.com.

The time in GIF Sundsvall did not come as Haghighi had thought. With short time left to the World Cup, he hoped to get a playtime to be up to date for the Iranian national team, but when it was clear that William Eskelinen would gain confidence between the posts, Haghighi eventually ended up outside the World Cup squad. In an interview with SVT, he expressed his disappointment with the club and coach Joel Cedergren whom he meant to lied to him.

"Unfortunately I Joel and the management in Sundsvall have done nothing but lied to me," he told SVT.

Haghighi will become a "free agent" in the summer and need to find a club that gives him playtime if he is given a chance to get back his place in the national team after the World Cup. The next major championship for Iran is the Asian Cupin the United Arab Emirates in early 2019. In the World Championships, you will be against Morocco , Spain and Portugal while the Asian Cup is in the same group as Iraq , Vietnam and Yemen."
