I would like to add two comments:

(1) Iran's coaching staff. I am not happy about it.
The losing coach from previous Futsal tournament is sitting on Iran's bench? Is he the Mayeli-Kohan of Futsal???
Iran has better coaches such as Shams. Who selected the present coach???

Nazemolsharieh is coaching Iran's futsal team for the first time. He replaced Jesus Candelas, who coached our team in the AC 2014

Persia was not a western placed name! .. We were the "Persian Empire" all throughout our history. .. there was no so called "West" at the time of Cyrus!

Reza Shah's action, although it appeared to have some merit at the time, but proved to be one of the biggest miscalculated moves in our history.

It separated us from our history and identity and brought an end to "Persia". The consequence of that action is seen today in our fight to preserve the name "Persian Gulf". Bunch of Arabs are claiming that there is no more Persia and that the name should be changed to "Arabian Gulf". An action that can easily be characterized as violation of our sovereignty.

Albateh ... this is not the only miscalculation in our history. Pages and pages of indecisiveness and ignorance attest to why we are who we are today and the state of nation we have!

The Greeks were the west. They advanced the term Persia-persica otherwise Iran was called something along the lines of eran-eranshahr-arya-aryashahr by Iranians even in ancient times.

No one said that the west created the word, but rather that they were the ones that used it to refer to the whole land of what is Iran. Some people here seem to think that reza shah changed the name from Persia to Iran whereas the name of the land was always Iran. Persia was a region in modern day Khuzestan and Fars/Pars where Persian/Parsis/Persis lived. Thats where the term persian gulf comes from but it was never the name of the country.

This would not only signal a new beginning and bring home to the world the new era in Iranian history, but would also signify the Aryan race of its population, as "Iran" is a cognate of "Aryan" and derived from it.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent out a circular to all foreign embassies in Tehran, requesting that the country thenceforth be called "Iran." Diplomatic courtesy obliged, and by and by the name "Iran" began to appear in official correspondence and news items.

At first "Iran" sounded alien (for non-Iranians), and many failed to recognize its connection with Persia. Some (Westerners) thought that it was perhaps one of the new countries like Iraq and Jordan carved out of the ruins of the Ottoman Empire, or a country in Africa or Southeast Asia that had just been granted independence; and not a few confused it with Iraq, itself a recent entity.

I keep seeing new posts in this thread and I hit the thread, just to browse through the irrelevant comments.

Could you folks kindly proceed the argument in the general forum please? I mean I could understand 1-2 off-topic posts being exchanged, however to go on with pages of deviated subject is a little inconsiderate

Fair enough my friend!

... but it is not like this thread contained so much quality that deviating from it for a little while was really inconsiderate! .. the deviation proved to be educational for most readers, specially the younger ones!
