Out of the top 5 teams in the world, Iran is the only one with a super mechanical and robotic way of playing the game. It's exactly b/c of this discipline that we're better than most teams (btw why can't we duplicate this in actual football?!), but unless we combine it individual brilliance, we won't be the best. Shamsaie knew how to turn and dribble. This made him a valuable asset. Brazilian futsal players practically dance on the court. The other night when I was watching Iran play Jordan, I kept thinking that this is the same old Iranian Futsal team. Where is the flair? You can pass your way to victory against Jordan, but don't expect to be able to control the game against Brazil and Russia, which we never do. We can beat Russia, but we're not better than them.

As I was thinking all this, teams stopped for time out and the camera focuses on the Iran bench. What does the coach emphasize the whole time? Passing! He was blaming the boys for not sticking to the plan and doing "individual" plays! Fuck me! It's futsal!! This is how you become Brazil. We've been the 4th-6th best team forever and unless we incorporate some flair into our disciplined playing style, we won't compete with the top teams.

Ironically our football has the opposite problem. But we don't even do the individual part properly in football lol.
