I like Branko as a coach but he failed a key test as Team Melli coach. While his results were fantastic, the unity of the team fell apart under his watch and he took zero action. With Branko, you'll get exactly what Hashemian described in his interview a short while ago. You may see us temporarily play a nice brand of football in the coach's vision but it ends there. Branko will not raise his voice and make valid demands (as CQ has) nor can he handle the egos of the team should they develop.

Branko Ivankovic is currently more experienced compare to the time he was the national team head coach. He expelled likes of Sadeghian due to discipline problems. He even did not put Taremi in the squad for one game because he was late for one of the practice sessions.
As you said his teams play a nice brand of football in the coach's vision. During his tenure as TM head coach many fans did not like him so much. When he left they were happy but when those fans saw the results of Daei, Ghotbi, Ghalenoei in TM they started to like Branko and fans like him so much now.
CQ is the safest choice for WCQ 2018 as I said before but it seems that Youth Affairs and Sports is not going to help to fix the issues such as training camp of senior team, cloth, friendly matches, etc and no matter how loud CQ raises his voice. CQ knew that when he renewed his contract. I am also sick of hearing his departure every a few months. We must wait to see who will be the new president of IFF and hopefully it is a better one. If he can bring more money and facility to the football and he is willing to continue with CQ until 2018 then CQ should continue. If not, I would take Branko Ivankovic but I doubt Perspolis fans will accept to give him to the national team.

It was not his fault that he had Daei (he was not always at his prime), Mahdavikia, Karimi, Hashemian, and Rahman Rezaei. Look at current Perspolis team. He is doing very well with the squad that no one could imagine it.

Listen Bro, I like to have CQ as our head coach until 2018. I like to have even better and more famous coaches than him after his tenure as TM head coach but be realistic. Youth Affair and Sports is not going to help the federation to fix issues such as training camp, cloth, friendly matches, etc until CQ is the head coach. That is why we hear his departure every a few months and most fans are really frustrated. They are not going to hire a better coach or at least someone at his level after his era because they have to pay at least what they are currently paying CQ. In that case, you have two choices. The first one is vatani coaches. The second one is unpopular, cheaper, but good foreign coaches such as Branko Ivankovic, Kranjcar, Stielike, etc. Which one do you go with? I go with second one.

Branko did very poorly with the player material he had during the World Cup 2006. In comparison to what CQ had in 2014, Branko should have made the Last 16 without any excuses. All the players were in their primes and yet he couldn't beat Angola. I don't want Branko as our coach, he is overrated. His only accomplishment was the bronze medal at the Asian Cup 2004, which I doubt it was from his coaching abilities, rather the individual talent from the team.
Legionnaires at WC 2006:
1.Rezaei (Messina, Serie A)
2.Mahdavikia (HSV, Bundesliga)
3.Zandi (Kaiserslautern, Bundesliga)
4.Karimi (Bayern München, Bundesliga)
5.Navidkia (Bochum, Bundesliga)
6.Hashemian (Hannover, Bundesliga)
Legionnaires at WC 2014:
1.Haghighi (Sporting Covilha, Segunda Liga)
2.Jahanbakhsh (NEC, Eredivisie)
3.Davari (Braunschweig, Bundesliga)
4.Shojaei (Las Palmas, Liga Adelante)
5.Ghoochannejhad (Charlton Athletic, Championship)
6.Dejagah (Fulham, Premier League)

Branko Ivankovic did not have Navidkia, Hashemian, and Zandi in Asian Cup 2004. Daei was past his prime. His only stars were Mahdavikia, Karimi, and young Nekounam. We had many young players at that tournament such as Borhani, Alavi, Kameli, Kaebi, Satar Zare, Kazemian, Mobali, etc. We played excellent football and finished third. None of the next coaches could get that result in Asian cup. Never forget that Zico at post conference for final match said that he is very happy that he is not facing Iran in the final.
IMO both Ghalenoei and Queiroz had stronger Asian cup squad than Branko Ivankovic but their teams could not reach top 4 at Asian cup.
Do not get me wrong. CQ is the safest choice until 2018 but it seems that Youth Affairs and Sports is not going to help to fix the issues such as training pitch, friendly match, cloth etc because of CQ. The Kafashian federation can not bring more money and facility to the football. If this continues even after the IFF election and CQ leave (I hope not) then I take Branko Ivankovic over vatani coaches or many foreign coaches.

Branko has no management skills. Like Nader said on the last page, the locker room went to hell under his leadership. CQ has the balls to call out players, despite how good they may be, for their big Irani egos and disrespect.
Tactics is important, but maintaining respect is the initial step to even having players listen to you. All the players listen to CQ and take incredible pride when playing for him. We'll probably never see such a professional locker room atmosphere ever again.

CQ knows all the quality players in Iran now. He is incredibly respected and liked by all TM players. His tactics and formations are finally understood by TM players. He can certainly take us to WC again. The transformation of TM that he has undertaken after the AC has been steadily progressing. The TM I see under his helm in the coming years is capable of beating anyone in Asia and beyond. We really need to clinch to him and provide the necessary means for him to succeed! It would be a great mistake that will most certainly cost us the qualification to Russia 2018 if we let him go.sigpic
