    Branko Ivankovic appreciation thread

I think we should call him: Branko IRANkovic

Indeed. Love this guy. It is strange we don't have a thread dedicated to this great man. I think he has done a lot for Iranians and is a real gentleman too. He has shown that he knows Iranians and our culture very well and knows exactly how to work with our players specially the young ones and motivate them to do their best and we can see this clearly in Persepolis recently.

So this thread is about news and comments about him.

Branko is just the level of coach IFF deserves. A low tier European coach that keeps costs low and doesn't ask any questions.

A good coach for Persepolis so far. Not good enough for NT. He can not control players. (2006 WC)

He is a gentle guy indeed, he did pretty well during his time with TM also, other than one half vs Mexico, the issue was the expectation was really high in that year, he knows our people, football and culture and you never hear him having issue with anyone and people respect him back as well.

He was best thing that could happen to a mess like PP from previous year, he isn't in like CQ caliber but sometime you need a character like that to calm thing instead of constantly fighting for x and y things with almost everyone.

I thought this was supposed to be appreciation thread. You can have another for your thoughts if you don't agree.
ANyway he is a great coach. He respects the culture. He knows how far the limit is for the players workout. He knows how to defeat opponents. I realized this in 2003/2004 when he defeated other Asian teams one after another.
He has added value to the Persian Gulf League. He is a role model for GN, Daei and everyone else. You did not see him crying and cursing the referees when PP was not doing well. He just worked harder to get the job done.
He has made contribution to TM by building the players. If you recall CQ s team was excellent in defending and not so great in Attacking. Bronko has complimented CQ's work and that is why CQ has used PP attackers. They are brave , fast, smart and unselfish(partly due to Branko) and that is great accomplishment.
PP winning this PGL season and then winning the AFC championship will be a great finish for Bronko's Kaarnaameh

I will never have full respect for him for the sole reason that, although I'm sure at the time he was probably forced to make the selection but the fact that he gave all the TM starts to Mirzakour. I guy who couldn't even kick a ball. SMH!

Mirza pour surely could not kick and would give the ball to opponents but i cannot remember if there was anyone better. We did not have beiranvand or....

another mistake was to use Daei 90 minutes. He could have subbed him in at 60 th minute.

for U23 he did great and won the championship. Is that not enough? MK, khakpour Mansoorian, Afazeli all robbed the players chances to be in Olympic and become famous. They did it in different ways and with different kind of mistake. None could ever match Bronko. I hope you agree to this.

Are you hearing yourself?? HE couldn't kick a ball! The first thing you learn in Football is how to kick a ball! Anyone else would have been better.

Mirzapour was bad in kicking. He gave a chance to opponents who scored. But this is about appreciation of Bronko's work as of today. Before coming to PP and making PP reach the top maybe your words would have been more legitimate.

Thats the problem with our fan base. As soon as a team plays bad, its the managers fault he should be removed. As soon as a team does good it's all the manager and he should be praised. I personally think that PP always had the right pieces and it tools some time for the team to gel. It just happened to be that it all worked out when Branko was in Charge. Now saying this I certainly do believe that he is a much better choice compare to all those vatani coaches that ran the team in recent times but to praise the guy as if he i=was the one with the magic potion for the team is just a little too much.

hilarious. i'm old enough to remember the branko days and everybody wanted his head. when he was hired after blazevich, ppl were furious that we had essentially hired blazevic-lite. then after the asian cup, more outrage even though we should have won that year. after the world cup - same thing, even though karimi, hashemian, kia were all injured.

iranian fans never cease to amaze me.
