The Europa League match between Manchester United and Liverpool on Thursday was always going to be a nervy event for fans of both clubs, but it could be a lot worse than first feared after the referee for the fixture was announced.
The man in charge is none other than Milorad Mažić of Serbia, who may not ring any bells at first but you may remember him if you watched any of the 2014 World Cup.
The ref was actually voted the worst official in the entire tournament by redcardtheref.com, polling an impressive 87,000 of the 110,000 votes cast by fans.
He gained such notoriety by sending off Portugal's Pepe in their group match against Germany, as well as awarding the German's a controversial penalty.
He also denied Iran a late penalty in their narrow loss to Argentina in the group phases, prompting then-Iran manager Carlos Queiroz to furiously question: "How can this guy sleep tonight, or for the rest of his life?".
Undaunted by the high-profile, his motto is, according to The Liverpool Echo: "You can't please everyone."
You could try pleasing anyone, though!

Yes, this was the same referee that we had 2 years ago. It is funny he is recognized as a horrible referee and is still allowed to officiate. Just decided to share because some members might find it interesting. This guy was like Ben Williams on steriods, I clearly remember when he stopped two of our counter attacks by running into the ball and then in the last minute calling Gucci on a foul when he was sandwhiched between two argentinian defneders.
