Most large chinese investors are diversifying their portfolios to hedge against risk. With how bad their economy has been doing recently buying a soccer team has become a good hedge.
If Iran allowed privatization we would also have more money in the IPL and our football. At this moment our government controls the TV contracts, teams, stadiums the IFF.

China isn't ruining football, we are...

We haven't gone to the Olympics in decades, Iran hasn't won the continental cup in decades, our clubs suck hard, our infrastructure is getting worse by the day, future looks bad, competition is gaining momentum and those that are already ahead (Korea and Japan) are becoming better every day.

Iranian confidence is like American nationalism. We both like to say we're number 1, but that's rarely the case.
Just a question. Asian football was dominated by us and Korea until 1990s and Japan and China were considered sleeping giants. Both countries started their professional leagues in the early 1990s. Japan has won Asian Cup 4 times (record), reached the round of 16 in the WC 2 times and their players play for the likes of Dortmund, Milan, Inter, Schalke and Leicester. But China has been a minnow in the Asian Cup and WCQ and their players are hopeless in Europe. Why is the difference so huge?

Get ready for the Chinese Empire

What Chinese Empire? The last time China qualified for a World Cup was in 2002, 14 years ago.

I would say the 2002 qualification draw was one of the most scandelous of all time. Iran & Saudi Arabia clearly should have been put into different groups as seeds; however, FIFA/AFC got this bright idea and made the UAE/ Saudi Arabia seeds + China/Iran 2nd seeds. How the UAE got seeded is beyond me. It was a complete joke of a draw and guess what? Yep, FIFA wanted China to qualify for the finals.

By the way, China have not even made the final round of the Asian qualifiers since 2002 qualifiers LOL. They are even worse than Qatar, Iraq, UAE etc.

The story goes many rich families sending their kids there so finally they make it as some good players years later. This is not 100% right approach but providing the good facilities and trainers is a good step in right direction.

Nothing to be worried about for us. Iranians are football lovers and start kicking the ball as soon as they start to walk. Arab nations from Persian gulf should be worried because a rich giant is coming to take their place in AFC.
For once I do not disagree with you. Brazil, in most eyes is the football kingdom of the world...most of those star players learned the game in the Favelas not in the football academy. Money can only take you so far

Chinese National Team will still sucks for about 20 years, currently China just want to develope it's domestic leagues and make it the best in asia so that will help the game grow in china and it will finnally lead to huge invest in grass roots football, the country currentlly has 52 professional clubs and about 1000+ ameturish clubs playing in official leagues and championships, the aim is to have 150+ professional clubs and 5000+ ameturish clubs.
Last week the CSL committee said the 32 CSL and CL1 clubs has a annual invest in youth develop for about 54m USD, still only 10% of the total budget though but we could see it is a good start, and CFA also announced that a constructure for National Youth traning base - traning center for national youth teams will be established and the total invest will be 36m USD.
CSL is indeed very popular in China maybe it is now the only Asian Country where domestic leagues could compete European Leagues in terms of Audience, the CSL has a average viewership rating of 0.67 while EPL has 0.11 in China, that is a huge disparity, partly because of the time difference, but it also shows the fact that the Chinese football fans do takes their Domestic League seriouslly, also the leagues had shown strong starts, the first two round of the CSL has a average attendance of 30,034, breaks history record, Second tier League, China League one has a average attendance of 13,361 in Round 1

This was a documentary done in 2012 about England's lack of success on the international stage. It goes over a series of problems in England: the miseducation of youth players, the emphasis on money over developing local talent from the premier league, the pressure from the media on the players and the manager, etc. It also briefly goes over the major transformations that Spain and Germany went through to end their respective dry spells and become international successes in the modern era. I know Iran and China are currently a far cry from any of these countries but there are sentiments there that perfectly fit with them.

The bottom line: everyone needs to pick on a set of ideals and fully commit to it with both investment and energy. There is no room for heroes coming down from the mountains to point the way, it has to be a group effort. Anything in the grey ends in mediocrity.

Ej baba in chiniha ham bikaran, its vasting of Money and time , they lack "gheirat Irani" and "inherenting talents like in Iran" anyway....they get nowhere no matter how much they invest in their football....

Gheirate irani and inherenting irani talents are going to stop them anyway to get a powerhouse in Asia....
They should instead working with production of Afatabe for Iranians now since they accomplished the production of Janamazi and Sabziye Haftsin for Iranians.

You talk about numbers...but where are the results? High attendance, a large amount of professional clubs and whatsoever doesn't mean a thing. And, a strong league is worth zero when your national team can't even compete for a World Cup ticket among Asian top teams like Iran and Korea. I'd rather have a poor league with domestic players and still make the World Cup.

They won't improve because there is no passion for the sport. You need a country to be passionate about a sport and china doesnt have that passion. If Iran invested 2 billion dollars in Rugby for example would Iran become a better nation at Rugby, probably not because there is no passion for the sport.

I agree with people on this forum that it will take time before Chinese football will grow and achieve success. But dont forget that Chinese people are smart, for every problem they have a solution. They invest alot of money in sports (not only football) and their President loves football.

Sooner or later whether you like it or not they´ll become a powerhouse of Asia. Guangzhou evergrande is winning Asian champions league all the time. When did an Iranian team win this competition?? Iranian clubs beg money from the government and fans (text-message serivce).

In Iran no one cares about football, just look at TM training ground or Azadi stadium (cracks in concrete and no seats on the 2nd floor).
we have talents but no platform to develop them. I hope this will chance but I dont think so. Everyone is busy filling their pockets and becoming ghahreman so no need for long term development.

These players you see in our national team (Sardar Azmoun, Saeed ezatolahi and Alireza Jahanbaksh) have reached so far, only because they were extremely talented to get through this journey on their own.
Azmoun said on Navad that his father didnt want him to play in Sepahan because he was declining (dont know if this is the right word).
