You'll see the result of Qatar and Chinese investment in the next 15-20 years. Unfortunately in Iran no one has a vision and ability to invest long term. Iranian mentality is they invest 100K today and they expect it to be 200K tomorrow.

I'm old enough to remember when Qatar was "investing " even in the 80s.
I'm also old enough to remember China being hailed as the next big thing since the late 90s.

Qatar won't be successful until they follow the Icelandic method. And even then success will be relative at best. Money and planning will only take you so far.

China probably has a better chance but the football base in that country cares more to watch EPL than their own clubs and national team.

Not true at all...all of our stadium projects have lasted 20+ years. Now that is long-term!

if everything is bouncing along, the CSL, together with China League 1 will be seperated from CFA League structure in Macrh and China League 2 will join the new system later.

On January 3, 2017, the CFA announced throught Xinhua Agency that Chinese Professional Football League, formed as a limited company, will be established in March 2017, that means Chinese League will be the second Asian League which is fully seperated from Domestic FA, following the steps of the J-League.

the Preparatory committee of the Chinese Professional Football League was established On May 27, 2016, with members from 5 CSL clubs, 3 CL1 clubs and 2 CL2 clubs, includes two CFA representatives, the blueprint is to have all of the three professional level leagues of China, to break away from the League structure of the CFA, The PFL will be a private company wholly owned by its Member Clubs who make up the League at any one time, Each club is a shareholder, with one vote each on issues such as rule changes and contracts. The newly formed PFL would have commercial independence from The CFA, giving the PFL licence to negotiate its own broadcast and sponsorship agreements.

The CFA will nolonger holds any shares of the League, but as national governing body for football in China the CFA is responsible for sanctioning competition Rule Books,and regulating on-field matters. It also organises The CFA Cup competition, in which PFL Member Clubs compete.and the lower division leagues ranked after CL2, under specific agreement between CFA and PFL, The CFA will also has the ability to exercise a vote on certain specific issues, but has no role in the day-to-day running of the CSL, CL1 and CL2.
the CSL and CL1 clubs will be found members of the PFL starts from 2017, with CL2 planing to join the system by 2019.

The PFL preparatory committee will discuss and establish the regulations and the structures of the PFL, holds the elections of the PFL president in January and February.

So is this good or bad?

It means more privatization, giving clubs increased freedom to do what they want independent of government decisions. This could lead to bigger investment in expensive transfers (even more than now) and development of the Chinese football brand, in order to gain more fans/market CSL.

This doesn't necessarily mean the teams will invest in developing youth football and promoting Chinese players. But from an organizational standpoint they're gonna be light years ahead of Iran which will definitely have a positive effect on their football in general.

It means the clubs will took fully controll of the League in main affairs, marketing, sponsorship, broadcast rights, structure, Budget, financial bonus etc, it gives them rights to develope the league as they want, CFA will no longer have effect on prefessional leagues.

It will also be good to CFA, they could focus on the National Team, semi-profesional and ameturish leagues and grass-root football, The CFA has it's own sponsor, Wanda Group which is also a Sponsor of FIFA, the seperation between CFA and PFL means CFA no longer need to invest into professional leagues as they currentlly holds 36% shares of CSL, 100% shares of CL1 and CL2, once these share transfered to PFL and clubs, these money will be used in other areas which is good to Chinese Football

Judging by China's performance in the WCQ, their mega spending doesn't seem to be effective....

I seriously doubt many top footballer under 30 would join this league.
30+ is when most players start to think about retirement and putting away some money for latter life. So if any big names follow, they'd be mostly near the retirement age players, famous or not.

But names are important in a way.
that would increase fans attendance, and some foreign media attention. which may lead to more money for organzers, club owners, ... etc.
maybe more fans would mean more interest in the game too.
Such extravagant spending in sports usually hits a plateau after a while. Meaning it wont climb higher or become more interesting or any more lucrative. When that plateau is hit, on many cases things start to decline and lose momentum.


However that wont guarantee a CHINESE NATIONAL TEAM SURGE. This needs a whole lot of other set of factors
will there be pressure from the top (govt?) to perform and show results? How soon? How much would be enough? That could have negative impact on the game itself.

China is getting so desperate with throwing around such ridiculous figures of $$$ to buy past their prime players.

Meanwhile their national team continues to suck since 2002 or so.
