He scored one today, by the way. People were saying the same about Gucci when he had a couple of off games and Sardar was emerging. We are lucky to have a plethora of talent and potential at the moment.

Don't take not playing as a group for 4 months, and India's goalie becoming Oliver Kahn in a 4-0 victory for us as meaning Sardar has lost, or never had his touch. The guy had an off day. Everyone, even Messi and Ronaldo do. Don't be so reactionary, please. Look at the bigger picture and the surrounding circumstances. Germany had an off game against the U.S. after a couple months of not playing together just after winning the World Cup, so it doesn't mean their players are bad.
I understand what you're saying, but although the indian goalie did well most of the shots were pretty poor. In general, the finishing was the worst Ive ever seen from Iran. Sardar is a great player, no question, and he likely did have an off day. However, he did not have any killer instinct in front of the net, and Im not sure I have seen it from him yet. Back in the day with Daie and Hashemian, they were instinctive goal scorers, through and through. Ghoochi has been the closest thing we've had to that since, but sardar will likely not be that player for us, bagging the goals. His best position for me is shadow striker, supporting a true finisher.

That's an understandable opinion. I think it's a little too early to tell though. You could be right, but I personally disagree. I play football twice a week, and there are some days everything I touch seems to be on target and I score a few. Then, there are some days where I'm out of form and every ball I touch flies to the moon. I'm not comparing myself to Sardar or anything, but I can see that after a long layoff, an opposing goalie having the game of his life, and generally a frustrating game, why these guys weren't putting the ball in the right place. Football is very much a mental game, and I think Sardar missing a couple of great opportunities was based on his frustration. You could tell how frustrated Ezatollahi and a few players were getting with their inability to score.

We should see a more confident and relaxed TM against Oman, and the friendlies in May and June heading into the qualifiers will really help the team gain confidence and focus.

I personally see Azmoun as being a Dzeko or Ibrahimovic like Goalscorer in the future. I would not be surprised to see Azmoun make a real impact in Europe in the coming years. You have to remember how young he is. Ibra did not develop into such a goal hunter at 20 years old. It took him time to develop into the beast.

Azmoun will get there. I don't believe in giving up on a player with such potential and moving/benching them. I am a firm believer in giving players time to maintain a position and improve. Sardar will get there, give him time.

Wait for the Azmoun - Taremi duo to dominate TM's attack for years! Their chemistry is awesome and can only get better, no need to talk about their talent.
If Taremi moves to Europe at the end of the season then we will have a epic force.

Its true, some days just don't go your way, and we are fortunate that this day was against a piss poor Indian team. But when the games matter, those bad days can't exist. We will see as we go along in qualification, but our goalscoring has been an issue since 2006. I would like to see an Iran team that has no mercy in the penalty box, like AJB showed today with his goal. When azmoun had no one within 10 yards of him in front of goal, he has to finish that chance every time. When the cross comes in and you're completely unmarked, as we were time and time again, it has to go in. In a way, Im actually not that pissed at azmoun, but rather that we could only get 1 goal from open play against a team that was less organized than my uni team. Passing it off when you have a clear shot in the six yard box?(again, not directed at sardar) Poor. Ghoochi is the only player I see now for Iran who doesn't waste chances, which is why he was so invaluable for us in 2014 qualifying. Iran needs to be more clinical in front of goal if we want to be scary in asia again.

FIFA awarded Iran a 3–0 win as a result of India fielding the ineligible player Eugeneson Lyngdoh.[20] The match initially ended 3–0 to Iran. 1st game

Oh, on another note, anyone else notice how rough Ansarifard plays? I was surprised he didn't get a yellow card for constantly fouling. I think he fouled 4 times within the first 10 minutes he got subbed in.

No wonder he's the best European based Asian player at the moment. With 50+ Korean, Japanese, and Aussie footballers abroad, Yahanbax is the king of the jungle at the moment!

Some of you are giving Azmoun 7's and while I know his job is more than scoring goals, let's not forget he is a striker, and his main job is to score goals. He needs to be more clinical, less rushed in finishing. He wasted some golden opportunities, and he alone, could have made the game 6 or 7-0. This Azmoun against S. Korea, Japan, or Australia would kill our stress levels. Gucci is still my preferred striker.

I miss him. Haven't seen him play a good amount of time in either Charlton or Team Melli.

Hajsafi (even without the pens), Ezza, & Jahanbahksh were the best players on the pitch
Taremi had everything but end product
                            Amiri was so-so
Azmoun is not a killer, he needs to develop a cool head in front of goal.
                            Pouraliganji was shaky
Ebrahimi pushes forward too often when he should be the sitter. He's not as talented a passer as Ezza, he should let him be the one to push forward. Luckily for him, Ezza is good defensively too and covered his ass a bunch of times.

Why can’t we just be happy that we won, younger/new players got some playing time, no one got injured/suspended and we topped the group... Always complaining and comparing youngsters with the peak of former players like Daei, Hashemian, Karimi...we are just stressing ourselves and it won’t help TM either. After 4 months without a match and couple of new faces we still created enough chances, showed a lot of potential and have nothing to worry about in the last game.

Some people are forgetting we are going through a crucial generation change, and this might be because of CQ's fantastic work as the transition was sooo smooth and the team still is intact. However keep in mind this is such a huge challenge as it takes time and dedication - and so far we are doing well!

Really dissapointed with Azmoun and Taremi as well. Both still have long way to go, someone like Daei would score on 80% of opportunities that both these guys had today.
