My view on this is, that Australia, Japan, Korea should organize a friendly before 15 April (next fifa ranking) against lower teams, so that they collect some more points and step higher in the ranking, but same is possible for Saudi Arabia.
UAE was clever, they collect some points vs. bangladesh, 80 points ham 80 points hast..
True but Tuesday is the last FIFA day before any official or FIFA friendlies can be played. Not sure if those games will count in FIFA rankings or even if these teams will be willing to organise games before the draw in Kuala Lumpur on April 14th when it won't much of a difference since it's just friendlies.
Basically we are able to win or lose/draw against every teams of the draw. We have to take something else into account than direct confrontations : Japan, Australia and SKorea are generally very effecient against small oppositions which give them the confortable position to qualify : then they just have to do the minimal job against their direct opponents.
The problem of Iran is we drop lot of important points against the bottom teams that force us to do miracle against the top ones to hope a qualification. We can see it with our good performance against Argentina, Chile, Sweden, Skorea and poor ones against Oman, Turkmenistan and so.
I thank CQ for all his work with TM. His defensive strategy is working well against strong oppositions but it is a short term strategy and we won't be able to pass to next level with that. We aren't used to attack properly when the opponent is weak and let us the ball. It is like the ball is burning our players feet! We have to learn use our technical superiorty against most asian teams and build our actions, take the possession (the opponent will be tired quickly after running one hour after the ball), learn to do accurate combinaisons and hassle our opponents with waves. Games against Guam and India would have been perfect to start this new style.
the bad news is AFC add again a new team on each group which made it harder to qualify.

Once again I will take PSG as an example. Ok the level is not the same but for me the gap with others teams is comparable to the one between Iran and most of Asian teams.
When Ancelotti came, he played defensive, counter-attack and direct style : we finished 2nd of the league (while having the best team of the league). the year after we finished champions but the style was ugly and at mid-season PSG was far behind two teams. We ever lost lot of times against shitty teams! PSG lost barely to Barca in quarter of final of the champions league (= Iran/Argentina) for our come back in champions league after 8 years.
After laurent Blanc came (I am not a huge of him), we start to play a different style : we take the ball, have 70% of possession, build our attack very patiently. the opponent run out of gas very quickly because they only run after the ball. the few time they have the ball, they lost it very quickly. When we decide to attack, it is lethal because the opponent is tired and sleeping. Even our archi rival, Marseille fans are ashamed to admit they are pleased to watch PSG play!!
You cannot imagine how it is joyful to destroy and rape all these french shitty teams that were used to grap points against us very often. That's what we should do against Lebanon, Oman, Jordan, Turkmenistan, Qatar.
With this style we weren't efficient at first against better teams in french league or champions league. But after persevering, we are taking experience and it is working much better.
CQ can also judge iranian players aren't technically good and won't never be in middle/short term. In this case, he can choose to play very physical with a fkkin collective pressing which will enable us to collect the ball very close to the opponent goals. in this case, we need player to run 90 like crazy pitbulls and hope referee won't kill us. it can work but it is ugly and risky.
repressive dictatorship. just like any other fields, football is highly corrupted. idiots are sitting at the top of the Uzbekistan Football Federation who don't know shit. Samvel Babayan, current coach of the national team was used to bribe and fix matches when he was a Pakhtakor's coach. Since he still has club interests, he is shoving his shitty Pakhtakor players into the national team, so he can sell them later to foreign clubs. For example, Persepolis GK Lobanov. Lobanov isn't even top 5 goalkeeper in Uzbekistan. yet somehow became the main keeper since Babayan became the coach. mind-boggling how Persepolis even bothered to get this GK. shows u a lot about what kind of people are running Persepolis in Iran too. Lobanov was benched (surprise, surprise) in Persepolis, but still started the match against Philippines recently. Top teams will smash his net in the next round.
football problems in Uzbekistan is very very similar to Iran's, but 100 times worse. You guys have at least top quality foreign coach in Carlos Queiroz. Uzbekistan will give problems to all the top teams in the final round due to the strong leggionaire players, but with the current coach and keeper, Uzbekistan ain't qualifying to the World Cup. Guaranteed 100%.
Is it true that Uzbeks speak Farsi? When I searched up which countries speak Farsi on Google, a list came up with Uzbekistan on it as well and I was kind of surprised.

As usual, the matches are not held simultaneously. And now guess which game is the last to kick off...yes, coincidentally UAE vs. Saudi. So in case either China, Iraq or North Korea didn't win (and Oman), UAE know they are through and miraculously Saudis will win to improve their seeding.

Disgusting. Not surprised but really disgusting. F*** the AFC. I can't wait for the day that stupid organization is actually run by smart fair people.

yeah Fock afc, i did not think about this when i made the calculation,
but THIS is also a reason why i more prefer east asian teams in our group and us as the most western team, so in our home games, we know the results from the east.
This is a practice, which saudi arabia and other follow, but specially saudi arabia AFC CL Teams or NT kickoff really late, the latest matches always, and they always knew their results before.
Iran should make sure, if they can do somehow to kickoff the most latest time possible. we kick-off too soon, we must play later at night, so we have also this advantage.
Best would be if Iran have both or the very last game of next round at home and east asia oponents in their groups, which kick-off earlier (Aussies, Korea, Japan)...
