We have a strong team, but your argument is flawed. USA beat Germany after the World Cup, does that mean that USA is better than all of Europe and the world because they won a test match? Many top tier teams do not try their hardest to win friendly games. They tend to win when it matters.

Otherwise, I do think Iran is a major player in world football and one of the top 30 teams in the world, despite the dumb FIFA rankings saying otherwise.

It is rather arrogant of us to think we are such a power in asia since our best showing in the past 38 years was a third place finish in the 96 cup. Samvel Babayan, current coach of the national team was used to bribe and fix matches when he was a Pakhtakor's coach. Since he still has club interests, he is shoving his shitty Pakhtakor players into the national team, so he can sell them later to foreign clubs. For example, Persepolis GK Lobanov. Lobanov isn't even top 5 goalkeeper in Uzbekistan. yet somehow became the main keeper since Babayan became the coach. mind-boggling how Persepolis even bothered to get this GK. shows u a lot about what kind of people are running Persepolis in Iran too. Lobanov was benched (surprise, surprise) in Persepolis, but still started the match against Philippines recently. Top teams will smash his net in the next round.
football problems in Uzbekistan is very very similar to Iran's, but 100 times worse. You guys have at least top quality foreign coach in Carlos Queiroz. Uzbekistan will give problems to all the top teams in the final round due to the strong leggionaire players, but with the current coach and keeper, Uzbekistan ain't qualifying to the World Cup. Guaranteed 100%.
