Mindgames brother. He knows how overconfident we get and how being number 1 team
Mentality in Asia will bite us and make us stumble. He is keeping edge on players and this is the right approach.

I understand the point you are making, but I disagree with his ideology. Mind games won't do the confidence of our players any good, there is a line between not underestimating your opponents and constantly think lowly of your team.

Actually I have faith in CQ regarding this. Also, I have faith in the fact that he knows the players better than we do.

Word of advice, don't think that CQ tells his players and the press the same thing.

Qatar coach: Iran and Korea are the favorites without any doubts. So let's recap, everyone in the group basically says Iran are favorites except our own coach

I don't get why people are still nitpicking at the minds games CQ plays. We've been here before, he's done this before, and we've qualified before.

The fact that this is being used as a basis of complaint makes me realize why the Iranian coaches (e.g. Daei, GN, Ghotbi) who go out and make stupid promises of victory before the match.

Also, instead of psychoanalyzing what CQ is saying (most of which is for show), why don't people talk about the real problems. For example, has there been one word of what's being done to prepare our Olympic team for 2020?

There is absolutely no line between respecting your opponents (even if there is some exaggeration involved) and refusing to talk highly about your team at such press conferences. He talks highly about his team and his players, AFTER matches, not 4 months before that.

in the last minute of the interview, he basically explains why we pay a coach like him so much money to be with our team.

Daei: Mah gharemanim! (loses against Saudi Arabia)

CQ: This is IMPOSSIBLE (wins all three matches and tops the group without conceding a goal)

People act like they don't grow up in Iranian households. Unfortunately, cynicism and saying we can't do things is what actually gets us to do things. I mean, how many times has being called a doodool talah actually worked for us lol it makes us arrogant and sloppy - it's when we are told that Javad down the street got good grades that gets us motivated. He's Portuguese and worked with Alex Ferguson. CQ is basically a mind games machine.

Why? Was Ferguson known for using a lot of mind games?

                                Yes.
By far. Only person who can get close are CQ and Mourinho.
