Realistically speaking, it depends on two things, 1. with the likes of Azmoun, Karim and Taremi doing well, his chances of selection have definitely decreased and if he WANTS to be part of our potential WC Squad he will have to stay in Europe and avoid Khalije Fars including Iran 2. He will surely not get a big money contract in europe and he might decide to cash in and move to the middle east, hence, it all depends on how bad he would want to feature in Russia. Ashkan's case is different, he's lucky that he's still one of the best in his position for TM but Gucci faces some real competition.

Simply put, Ghoochannejhad remains our second-best striker after Azmoun. While Azmoun has many fantastic qualities, Ghoochannejhad remains our most clinical striker. This a player that averaged roughly a goal every two games during a time when our formation was heavily defense-oriented. Ansarifard has put his career on the right track but no longer appears to be an impact player and Taremi has not distinguished himself yet internationally. Even Gholamreza Rezaei seemed liked the next big thing during the 2nd round of the 2010 WCQ only to disappear against superior opponents in the final round.
