This article makes reference to a third party who'd prefer to remain anonymous willing to pay the $3 mil salary, there is no talks about Persepolis having to dish out that kinda money.

What concerns me is what would motivate an individual with no official ties to the club to want to spend $3 million dollars of their own money on adding this footballer to Persepolis, that's the big question mark. There is obviously an ulterior motive.

He's probably just a really rich Persian millionionaire who wants to see a high profile player like Ronaldinho in his favorite club

That individual cannot be anyone but our own Haaj Hossein Hedayati. I just can't think of anybody else. I wonder if he also one of these days pull yet another Babak Zanjani fiasco, hopefully not!

ronaldinho can still play, not sure why people think he would only be for show and to promote our league. this guy was THE best player in the world at one point, age may effect him but not to the crazy extent some of you are making it out to be.

I'm indifferent about this (leaning a bit more towards wanting him), I see why branko would reject the move given he could buy 3 very good foreign players with the money he would use to buy ronaldinho but at the same time I think having him in the team would have been pretty much a once in a lifetime opportunity for persepolis....who knows when the next time will be that we can say we had one of the top players in the world on our team. It would be a great experience for our players to have had him in the team.

GA jaan, having a prolific player in a team like Perspolis will definitely have many positives. Firstly I doubt he has lost his skills, and I am sure he will be so entertaining to watch in our country, which means definitely more spectators in the stadiums (Income) more TV audience watching Perspolis games (In a sane country the team would have surely financially benefitted from the high number of viewers), not to mention how his presence and skills can effect his teammates and in general our league.

If a third party is paying for his transfer, Perspolis will have absolutely nothing to lose. We always end up buying many crappy foreign players for we barely even use them in our starting lineups, so why not having him as one of the foreign quotas?

ah I didn't read that it was the third party that would be paying for his transfer....if that is indeed the case then branko would be more than a fool to reject it. Like you said, packed stadiums, the experience of having him in Iran for our players, and the exposure for the league would all be fantastic.

He is still only 36 which is not too old for a play maker, and certainly not for a player of his caliber. Kia was just talking about him as well, as the two played along side one another at the recent friendly against Mexico's best.

He can certainly bring lots of experience not to mention exposure to Persepolis, and I think would be a great addition to the roster.

Especially before the upcoming Champion's League, with his experience and skill set he can add a whole new dimension to our team.

It certainly would be awesome to see Ronaldinho in a Persepolis jersey, and would create lots of buzz around Iranian football in general.

I really hope he comes to Persepolis. Seeing a player as famous as Ronaldinho in our league would be amazing. If a third party really is paying for his transfer, then I don't see why they wouldn't want him.

I find this article and the bolded comment quite funny:

if the club could sell 300K of his T-shirts at $15 a piece, they'll make their money back and have his services for free.
but we all know how this gonna end up.

other than that, a shitty idea and total distraction.
