    Ali Daei vs Sardar Azmoun

In the first three years of Ali Daei's vs Sardar Azmoun career:

    Year Apps Goals
    1993 16 7
    1994 1 0
    1995 0 0
    Total 17 6

    Year Apps Goals
    2014 3 1
    2015 11 7
    2016 2 6 (with 3 goals today).
    Total 16 14

I have a feeling that Sardar Azmon has the potential to get close to Ali Daie's record. Sardar is only 21 years old.

The ridiculous match ups against Maldives, Guam, Nepal that allowed Daei to inflate his numbers like that are not going to be around for Sardar.
Seeding has changed so has the quality of football in Asia.

Edit since people seem to have forgotten the actual numbers:

    highest scoring games

    Sri Lanka: 5
    Nepal: 4
    South Korea: 4
    Loas: 4
    Guam: 4

In term of first touch and ball control Sardar is miles better than Daei.

Daei was a far better finisher than Sardar. Sardar is faster and has a better leap.

Badbakht Daei didn't actually score that much versus Guam or even Maldives (Daei only has 4 versus Guam and 5 versus Nepal).
Lets also not forgot that Daei started much later than Azmoon.

Daei was legendary goal scorer, i don't like the guy for his attitude, personality after he became famous figure but that is something else, if Azmoun, one day become better than Daei that means he achieved something special and i believe the kid is special, he just need to continue to progress..

I honestly don't think you really watched those games, and perhaps only heard about them. You speak as if he scored 50 goals in those mentioned matches!

Daei hardly scored vs those teams lol.

Bagheri was the killing machine in those games.

As for this thread: who cares actually? there are no similarities to start a comparsion in the first place.
Daei flourished much later. Football in Asia was different at that time.
IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.

I watched all those Games live with the exception of Guam. His highest scoring games were against the Powerhouses Such as:
                    Sri Lanka: 5
                    Nepal: 4
South Korea: 4 <<< I'll give you that one.
                    Loas: 4
                    Guam: 4

Comparing is really difficult, times have changed (especially in Asian football), Sardar at 21 is already our main striker while Daei had his first TM appereances at 24. Azmoun moved to europe at 18, while Daei was already 28 and in his absoloute prime when he signed for Bielefeld.

Personally i think Azmoun is our best striker ever and he can be one of the worlds best in lets say 3 - 5 years from
now. Daeis european career was quite a disappointment compared to his TM career (only 19 Bundesliga goals in over 100 matches) but who knows what would have happened if had moved to europe 10 or lets say even lets say 5 years earlier.
By the way Azmoun has scored 14 goals in 17 TM appereances now. Crazy record If he scores only one against Kyrgiztan he has already scored as many as Hashemian, who needed over 50 appereances for his 15 goals.

                        Our last two matches:

                        Iran 2 - 0 Oman
                        Iran 3 - 1 Macedonia

All 5 goals by Iran were scored by our boi Sardar.

Sardar's footwork and accuracy is just incredible. TM with Sardar and likes of Taremi will be a formidable force in (group stage)WC2018!

At the end of the day everyone got weak sides to play against and strong sides. Its not like the big european stars don't play Gilbitar and Malta etc, the same way we play nations of equal quality on our continent.
