stop bashing daei

Seeding has changed so has the quality of football in Asia.
Edit since people seem to have forgotten the actual numbers:
highest scoring games
Sri Lanka: 5
Nepal: 4
South Korea: 4
Loas: 4
Guam: 4

This is only for granted if he remains our #1 striker, in the same shape or even better and injury-free.

Are you really trying to compare the two? First of all, they are of different generation in which Daei was at a very difficult time for Iran in regards to the revolution and the Iran-Iraq war. Sardar didn't have to go through any of that. If you actually think about it, it's mind boggling how amazing it is for Daei to score 110 goals throughout the difficulties he and the country faces.

Daei joined the national team in 1993. He hadn't had any difficults scoring goals because of the revolution (1979) or the war (1980-1988).
I say it's exactly the opposite.
Football is always in progress, which makes it faster and better and more competetive almost weekly. It's Azmoun who is convincing and delivering in a tougher time than Daei.
Also, Daei had Azizi around him who assisted a huge ass load of goals for him.
Not taking credits away from Ali Daei here but you should reconsider your arguments.Last edited by Ali.Karimi79; 06-09-2016, 05:31 AM.IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.

What's the use in comparing a target man to a finisher? Daei was 6'4 and especially for the 1990s taller than everyone else on the field. Heading will always be his strength over Azmoun. For Azmoun's height his physicality and reaction time is what makes his heading great.
Azmoun can do more with his feet. He'll be an Higuain/Benzema before he'll ever be Daei. Two different players IMO

i didnt really follow his career until very late in his Omid TM spell shortly prior to his transfer to Rubin in mid 2013..!! but remember finally seeing a full game of him in a pre-season Rubin friendly and witnessing first hand his exceptional brilliance, in game he didnt even score, nor played the full 90...!!
Immediately after that game i wanted him in our WC traveling team, saying that regardless of his youth and lack of experience, (barring AK8) we simply didnt have any other such caliber iranian footballer...! (just go back and read through the old Azmoun @ Rubin Thread..!)
off course, many here discounted those comment and claimed he was not no where near the TM picture, especially so late in run up to WC..!
Later he was called up to TM pre WC camp and clearly proved to be already a class above more than 80% of CQ invitees at that time..!
as we all know by now, ultimately he (along with AK8) was eventually got left behind, all so foolishly by CQ, who instead opted for even more defensive depth by taking a bunch of hapless, even injured invitees like beykzadeh or Beita..!!
one could only ponder the possible advancement in his club career, had he made the WC roster and gotten some minutes in games like the Bosnia which we fell behind early and didnt have any legit offensive option on the bench to bring in and try n change our fortunes...!?
