For me it was all good until second part and those BS by Hajrezaei and Sadr about the hate of Iranian people toward Jewish. Even now our people other than some hardcore don't hate Jewish and we have lots of proud Jewish-Iranians, specially in states. Something like 40 years back saying people hated Jewish is another BS and i was shocked how people like Sadr and Hajrezaei which i had some respect for made up such a story.

finally got a chance to watch most of the first episode

notice a recurring theme throughout the history ...!!? the ever present hashie and drama most often circumventing our potential ..!!

its and always been in our fking culture i think, hasnt as much to do with IR as i first thought..!

even here in US, our sunday soccer with the homies, has always been filled to rim with bs drama and a bunch of old ass middle aged men ghahring n complaining and crying like a bunch bitches..!!

honestly i show up occasionally there anymore just for its comedic value ...!!

However, there was some animosity towards Israel at that time due the 1967 war.
People never hated Jews, there are many Jews who lived in Iran, Hamedan specially. That was stupid, as you said, you don't need to say such a thing and i stopped watching the whole thing after..

What a total blunder by Mirzaie (producer of the show) when he says that the Iran - Soviet Union game takes place at the Montreal Olympic Stadium. In reality it was the previous game against Poland which took place there.

The game against Soviet Union was held at a local College which was pretty embarrassing considering that it was the Quaterfinals.

Obviously I was not alive when these matches took place, but based on the Nasser Hejazi documentary and highlights from this documentary, Hejazi let in a lot of bad goals.

Also Iran's defense was horrible. Just plain amateur.
The difference in levels between football teams now is so much smaller now than it was then. Thank goodness.

Please keep in mind that Poland and USSR ended up 2nd and 3rd respectively in the tournament. So We faced some tough competition. Having said that I agree Marhoom Hejazi was at fault for 2 of the goals against Poland and both goals against USSR. But our defense was anything but amateur. In fact the whole world praised our performance in those games.

BTW there was no Live TV coverage of these games. They only way to follow it was through the Radio, which I did, around 2 AM Tehran time.

One thing that was well known about Hejazi was his sense of pride/entitlement. He was also a bit temperamental...but in all fairness, he would have been a Man United keeper had the revolution not happened, so he was and still is the best GK to ever come from Asia let alone Iran. May he RIP.

The Asia cup 1980 episode. Disgusting how the Kuwaitis were treating our players.
And I never knew Hassan Roshan's brother is a shahid! May he rest in peace.

Nothing has changed. I think it was in episode 6 or 7 and if I am not mistaken Behtash Fariba made the comment it doesn't matter when or what the situation, the Arabs will do anything and in their power to defeat Iran whether it be sports, economics, or politics.
